You're misquoting the concept of helping your kin there, sxb. Being a Muslim and a Somali should easily qualify as being first. I'm not misquoting anything. Its a fact and a reality that its considered alien thing to do to help in large way to a clan that differs yours. We have Somalis fighting over land, wells, presidential seat etc. Clan loyalty is not something new to Somalis. Only did Siad Barre try to get rid off the mentality which he successfully did in the first decade of his rule, but with the clan loyalty still existing within Somalis in the second decade of his rule it came back; which was prime reason of the destruction of Somalia, with different clans creating their own rebel movement in order to take control of the country.

I simply created this thread, for them to know that who ever overcomes hate and clan grudges has ragnimo. But sadly Somali mentality cannot accept a man to help a warring side or a clan that had conflict with the one being helped.

We have to be honest with ourselves here. The truth is that marehan is the only clan who has time and time again demonstrated a willingness to transcend tribal loyalties for the good of the nation. This is evident if one objectively studies the policies of President MSB (especially in regards to where he built infrastructure) , and even on this forum marehan members are nearly unanimous in their staunch nationalism and support for all Somali people. Marehan isn't merely a lineage, it's also a virtue. Haters and detractors are irrelevant to us.

Calm down kids. Hargeysa is a big city with tons of hospitals (Edna Adan, Manhal hospital, Hargeysa general hospital just to name few, it's not like this hospital is going to make it look like New York. With that said what Dr Maxamed Adan Sheekh AUN and his wife did should be welcomed because it's a good thing not because he belongs to a certain lineage.

Speaking of Dr Mohammad Adan, I happen to have just read a superb article written by his niece (Bilan Abdikhadir Adan) which is on Somali opinion pieces today. She is a very good friend of mine and a Seattlite.
