Prince Daadi, Sababtoo ah?
Salool; you belong to a number of people on this site whose writings I do not comprehend. Be constructive and tell me what is wrong with Qaanad; Is it the spelling (khaanad which is totally wrong in somali)? is the word itself? (the somali language has borrowed alot of words from other languages and hitherto, there is nothing wrong in having an arabic word). So, there is no computer in somali (kombiyuutar could be fine).
Maandeeq
that is child abuse!
Alpha; I am not talking about somalis who are born in the diaspora.

we in the north, we use Khaanad while southern and people from central regions use Qaanad. other examples, we say the name Khadra/ khadar while you guys say qadra/qadar, we call alcohol khamri while you use qamri etc. We in the north we dont change original arabic pronounciations.

In the written somali it is qamri irrespective of where you are from.

Samatar, the somali is written as it is spoken. It is wrong to write KHALID when the spoken word is QAALID for instance. I know that many write their names as khalid.
Where does the north-south border go? Somalis live in vast territories. How do somalis in Galbeed say? NFD? Djibouti?

Somali galbeed and Djibouti are quite close to us in the north when they speak somali though their typical accents can be identified. I have no clue about NFD. In somali galbeed particularLY those from jigjiga/ dhagaxbuur iyo meela ka ag dhow, they are considered reer woqooyi in my book. Even in woqoyi there are very minor but noticable differnces, for example a person from cerigabo, borama, lascanood or hargeisa can be differentiated by accent.Lamgoodle wrote:Samatar, the somali is written as it is spoken.
