The book I want to write is more about Somali's and Somalia per se, and is about my life time.

As-salaamu Calaykuum,

Several books detailing Somali and World history were presented by the Ministry of Education post-1975. Many have been lost, destroyed or scattered to God knows where. I know one American university that have digitised several of these volumes. It will be an honourable task for someone or some group to revamp these volumes and reprint it but it is left to be seen.

What is more saddening and shameful is that until 1991, the Somalia's National Library collected over 600 rare manuscripts from all across of Africa (in particular East Africa) detailing never-seen-before pieces of Somali history; their migrations, their venetrated historical figures, the Axmed Gurey wars, etc only for it to be destroyed/sacked/burned by the advancing USC rebels in 1991.

It is always to point the finger isn't?

Siyad Barre is the guy who was the leader of Somalia. Its his fault we lost the war against Ethiopia. Its him that couldn't keep Somalia together.

Like they say. With great powers comes great responsibility. Wasn't he physically incapable since 88?

No but the war against Ethiopia was. His lack of foresight destroyed us. Somalis cannot even defend their borders against Kenyans today? He fought against Ethiopia and Russia without even having a plan B. He died on the other side of the continent. Just bare that in mind.

dagaalki 77 is responsible for the downfall of Somalia. How many soldiers fought against Siyaad? Who funded the rebel groups? Who crosses the border of Somalia with ease?

Who dispersed the ICU?

Siad Barre ( rather 'we') did not fight against USSR and Ethiopia at the beggining. Our troops were at the gates of Harar when the Soviet warplanes, consultants and Cuban troops landed in the middle, separating the Somali troops. Those somali troops around Harar was left without ration or immunation back up, simply Somalis could not pass the USSR and Cuban troops. Man, that is disheartenning.

The ''defeat'' in 77-war was not barre's fault. Nobody could have forseen the USSR change of heart. Have you read the millitary tactic somalia/ethiopia war? it explains a lot why we lost that war. But also bear in mind that the Cold war was going on and countries like Somalia was victims of that war. There was constant political shifts. May be you can see that Somalia should have known that non- Muslim powers in the West would come to Ethiopias aid as they did in the 16 century. But the thing is many Muslim countries including ours thought that Socialism is colour( religious)blind. Apparntly it is't.
