this question TOTALLY depends on the value of each spouse, what are they bringing to the table. either way though, women should have already built a good foundation in cooking/cleaning from their younger days of serving their brothers and fathers/uncles. theres a thing called gender roles and although they have been changing in society somalis are definitely gonna be lagging behind in phenomona, so ladies don't be surprised when your husband is angry that you aren't cooking or cleaning.

I just wonder these girls who refuse to cook and clean for their husband, what they expect him to do for them...I'll bet they'll change their tune when he refuses to support their ass, fix their car, mow the lawn, shovel the driveway, etc.

Are you blackmailing me? What is it you want? Sex? Shit, I didn't want to do you because you smell funny but if it means you will keep my big secret intact, then there is no choice. Is there?

This would not be an issue if parents actually taught both their boys and girls the importance of both genders. We are having this conversation for one reason and one reason alone. A large portion of men failed miserably to finish their higher education and find a job that supports their spouses and children. A good portion of men decided to rely on their mini-wages to maintain a family and at times completely neglect their religious, financial, and social duties as husbands and fathers, and instead force the government to support and provide for their children and wives.

Men who can not fulfill their Islamic responsibilities have no right to demand a woman that fulfills her "supposed" social roles. Let me make it clear to you men. In Islam it's the Islamic responsibility of a man to financially provide for his wife and children. As for the chores, it's not the religious obligation of women in Islam. Parents should focus on their sons a little bit more and drill in them the consequences of been a dead-beat husband and father.

So please worry about YOUR RELIGIOUS responsibilities, before arguing about the "SOCIAl" responsibility of women. Once you start fulfilling your religious obligations, women will gladly go into the kitchen and compete with each other, and maybe, JUST maybe even come up with something other than basto iyo barris.

Come on, you can't expect your husband to financially provide for you and your kids and then cook for you?
