Yes,you are right,Cubans dont have honor and dignity but they defeated Somalia in 1978.Unlike Cubans and Ethiopians... Somalis have honor and dignity.
Unless You can prove that the Cuban army could defeat the Somali army single handed then you should get the fuck out of this site.

I have a video about Ogaden War:The expected Ethiopian-Cuban attack occurred in early February; however, it was accompanied by a second attack that the Somalis did not expect. A column of Ethiopian and Cuban troops crossed northeast into the highlands between Jijiga and the border with Somalia, bypassing the SNA-WSLF force defending the Marda Pass. The attackers were thus able to assault from two directions in a "pincer" action, allowing the re-capture of Jijiga in only two days while killing 3,000 defenders. The Somali defense collapsed and every major Ethiopian town was recaptured in the following weeks. Recognizing that his position was untenable, Siad Barre ordered the SNA to retreat back into Somalia on 9 March 1978, although Rene LaFort claims that the Somalis, having foreseen the inevitable, had already withdrawn its heavy weapons. The last significant Somali unit left Ethiopia on 15 March 1978, marking the end of the war.
Following the withdrawal of the SNA, the WSLF continued their insurgency. By May 1980, the rebels, with the assistance of a small number of SNA soldiers who continued to help the guerilla war, controlled a substantial region of the Ogaden. However by 1981 the insurgents were reduced to sporadic hit-and-run attacks and were finally defeated.
The war weakened the Somali military. Almost one-third of the regular SNA soldiers, three-eighths of the armored units and half of the Somali Air Force (SAF) were lost. The weakness of the Barre regime led it to effectively abandon the dream of a unified Greater Somalia. The failure of the war aggravated discontent with the Barre regime; the first organized opposition group, the Somali Salvation Democratic Front (SSDF), was formed by army officers in 1979.

MeyleSamaale wrote:You're lost.. you cant compare Ahmed Gureys war with habesh kingdoms with the war between Somalia and Ethiopia over Somali territory handed to them because they've always been slaves of slaves to the west.
Before the Portuguese defeated Ahmed Gurey he had replaced almost all his Somali soldiers with Turkish musketeers and that was a mistake he would regret because that cost him his life. Haile Selassie said in an interview in 1971 that the stories of Ahmed Gurey was told throughout the Ethiopian highlands like the incidents had taken place yesterday. Ahmed Gurey controlled the area today known as Addis Ababa before Menelik 400 years later created the city. The man controlled a huge part of the Tigray region etc.
To this day stories of Ahmed Gurey is told throughout the Ethiopian highlands. The biggest threat to Ethiopia is not poverty or famine.. its Somali nationalism.
When it comes to the 77-78 war... you cant prove that the Cubans would defeat the Somali army single handed because they wouldn't.
35 000 Somali soldiers against 50 000 Ethiopian soldiers on the Somali front. They had 400 000 soldiers overall. Then you have 18 000 Cuban soldiers plus 1500 Soviet generals/advisers and 1000 south Yemeni soldiers. On top of that Libya contributed with economic aid to Ethiopia and Syria provided with fighter jets and pilots even though Somalia was a member of the Arab union while Ethiopia wasn't. Eastern Germany and north Korea also sent generals to train Ethiopian soldiers.
The only country that wanted to help Somalia was China but they couldn't. They gave us a symbolic amount of money to show their support.
35 000 Somali soldiers against a part of the eastern bloc, 70 500 soldiers (Ethiopian, Cuban, Soviet and Yemen).
Many factors made it impossible for the Somali army to continue the war, like the weapons, ammunition, spare parts being bought from the Soviet during the friendship. When we ran out of these things, where would we get them? and Somali officials not demanding that if the US is going to use the Somali coast as a part of our agreement, they have to participate in the war.
but..
The US was afraid of Soviet and had already been humiliated by the Soviet backed Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam but the difference is Somalis are not like the Vietnamese. We would've taken care of business if we would've get weapons, ammunition and logitics aswell as tactical intelligence.
Most of my family members participated in the war not only the ones working as soldiers but also the ones who didnt work as soldiers. Many volunteered.
Unlike Cubans and Ethiopians... Somalis have honor and dignity.
Fidel Castro was a whore to Leonid Brezhnev among others and Cuba was used like a condom by the Soviet because of its strategic location and the possibility of having nuclear missiles facing America.
Unless You can prove that the Cuban army could defeat the Somali army single handed then you should get the fuck out of this site.
