10 divisions was nothing without airsupport, the isreali airforce would have damaged them severly and the 3 to 5 ugdot in the area where heavily armoured and would have held.MidriGeez wrote:2) the second objective was to prolong the war so isreal would ask for a peace talk which they did and was held in late october in the middle of sinai, You never been to army and don't know that quantity compensate for technology if the war is face to face (Germany VS soviets in ww2 is an example), isreal was losing and america interefered nd sent more than 400 tanks among other non stop aid to compensate the large losses of the isreali, in oct 10 there was a 24 hours window that egypt were able to enter isreal and head to tel aviv and the only force were to block it was one merely reserve division 20-30km south of tel aviv versus close to 10 egyptian division including 2 armoured division, the isreali knew that and told Henry kissinger to tell the egyptians that if the egyptians were to go with this option they would use their nuke missiles, their back were against the wall.
smaller ugdot( brigades) held against the syrians in the golan and there was a case of one tank platoon of 4 centrurions taking out more than 60 syrian tanks.
and your theory about isreal not being able to survive a prolonged war is correct, the entire isreali armed forces is designed around a short war with a maximum length of 1 month.
You are forgetting that no arab army can fight a prolonged war either, because they do not produce their own weapons
this is why the analogy with the soviets and nazis is not possible.
The likely scenario is that Egypt would lose its airforce in 2 weeks, sinai and the canal in a few days,
even if they fight as well as a NATO standard army, because they have the odds stacked against them.
If they refuse a ceasefire, isreal can bomb cairo at will with no resistance just like the US bombs the taliban.
before the arabs can think of a war with isreal they need to industrialize and produce even sub standard weapons on their own.
The reason Iran is a threat is because it has done just this, they are nearly 100% self sufficient in weapons,
and they have caught up technologically very quickly by doing it the hard way and starting from scratch like their Azarkash program and the Saeqah program which is a not too far from the South Korean program.
