Thats the image of Sheekh Cali Cabdiraxmaan ( Cali-Majeerteen) or at least thats the image the Daarood have found of him. When the picture was taken and in what book i can't find but surely can't be in 1830's , both photography and camera's were yet to be popular and in Africa at least the eralist images are from the 1870's and they are even rare, i'd say if that is Sheekh Cali Majeerteen this picture of him is from the 1870's at least and later.
You guys wonder why am bringing Cali Majeerteen into poetry thread but he was a religious poet and a Suufi and him and GabayXoog had a dual religous chain that begins with the letter "alif" and ends in the letter "y" following the Arabic alphabet. Its called the "Alif-yeen" Suufi poetry. Now as usual the Kacaan left out GabayXoog's part and Aw Jamaac and his Idaajaa buddy mixed the tow poet's work and gave both version or some of it to Cali Majeerteen and mixed and confused the tow.
Now the Arabic alphabet has at least 7 letters most of us Somali and the world never use due to its redundancy , Siin/Saad Dh/Dh', Tha, so both poet just used what we share or the other 20-21 letters leaving out Z letter also. Few years ago i recorded some of both version from a 90 years old Jibaraahiil old man from Ceerigaabo and he is probably one of the few who can recite both version side by side. So although i have spent time and effort and $$$ on this project i will give you 5 letters religious poetry ,Alifyeen (A), Beyteen (B), Teyteen(C), Seyteen(D). Jiinyeen(J).

I have to add this is later poetry of GabayXoog when he became a Suufi sometimes around 1880-1890's, before he was no different them most nomad poets, on the death of Mataan Ciideed the Ogaadeen the Ba-Xawaadle Ogaadeen settled the conflict and few months later Gabayxoog composed 2 poems from Cadan and reignited the conflict that ended up with the Ibaarhiim Jiir becaming a legend. Iaadaaj only quote the G version addressed to Guraase there is a K version adressed to Raabi:
Wuxuun buu kidkidi baan lahaa Raabi kaligiise
Waar ma kabash-wanaa Mataan so loo kaftami maayo
That second poem was answered back when the brothers and cousins of Mataan killed Cali-Dhan the killer of Mataan and the brother of Nuur Jiir.
Ninkii ina Dubbaa nagu kashfay kiiskii Cadan-weyne..
Also when Cali Duulaane lost his wife to Faarax Afxakame , Gabayxoog composed a poem. Also one of his best poem was the one titled "guluf-tuuyo" where the Garxajis and opposing clan fought over the Ogaadeen beauty Marayamo-Xaashi. All all GabayXoog almost lived and composed poetry in much of 1800's till 1912 and during the Dervish , he died at around 90 something . There also another poem of his choosing between 2 wives the Harti and Ogaadeen offered him a pride and in between the tow he made his choice in a poem.

No from Idaajaa's Mataan Ciideed program from the 1970's and Radio Moqdisho , he always tells Mataan-Ciideed story which is misnomer, Mataan was the stupid bully but the hero of the story is Ibraahiim Jiir the meek doqon who became a brave avenger.

Xplaya why dont you tell us about the famous story of mataan robbing the isaaq trevellor from saaxil or present day berbera? The calacal poems from the isaq guy to the ugaas of the time telling him get my stuff back from mataan. I think it was nuur ugaas warfaa.

Voltage what do you seek to achieve by refuting this drink-sodden pseudo-historian and his herd of illiterate buffoons.
Is it perhaps for them to fully read the book and to contextualize its contents before rewriting history.!
