Somalia is only 10 million though. So 20% of Somalia is Bantu? I think its like 10%. 20% is too much. You know who I also think are big? Rahanweyn. They have to be the largest clan in Somalia. But they are miskeen and quiet people. They are not as political for some strange reason.

Raxanweyn is a political confederation. You have a clan called Garreh who fall under Digil but in reality they are closer to Gaaljecel. Many jareer weyne groups fall under Raxanweyn and that's why most jareer weyne speak May-May Somali.


Hawiye is the largest clan, then you have Daarood who is slightly larger than Isaaq due to the crucial size of the Ogaden sub clan. Then comes Raxanweyn, the real Digil and Mirifle sub clans not the assimilated ones. Gabooye is also a large clan. They live everywhere, from Djibouti to NFD.

Jareer Weyne like Gosha and Mushunguli are minority clans, they can't be more than 1-2 million.

The most populated gobol in Somalia after Banaadir is Bay with 719,000 people at 2005 estimates. Bay has 360,000 people. These are Rahanweyn provinces. They are huge in Gedo which was traditionally their turf, they have a presence in the two Jubbas. They have large presence in Shabeellaha Dhexe/Hoose. They are huge in Banaadir. They even have presence in Hiiraan. There are in Ethiopia. They are in Puntland, there are even a community of them in Hargeisa even though its not as large here as other places. You should check out Somalia and you will change your opinion.

Raxanweyn is a political confederation. Waa qabiilo yaryar oo is raacay. I gave you the example with Garreh who is not even Raxanweyn but they fall under Digil.


Their major presence in many gobols is a direct consequence of the civil war. They are the most displaced group of all Somalis.
