You guys are unreal, blaming outsiders for whatever happens to Somalis. Do you really think a poverty stricken community will not take advantage of such a situation in order to achieve short term profit (looting)? However in the end these Zambians will take a loss as they risk seeing their employers leave the area, this would mean no jobs for them and back to whatever form of hustling they were practicing beforehand.
As for the Somali businessmen it's a tricky situation. Do I move back to lawless Somalia were my shop could be:
A) Destroyed by a stray RPG
B) Stolen by another tribe in the name of unuku leh
C) Lose out on profits due to insecurity/clan warfare
Or do they stay pur in Zambian where all they face is a riot once in a bluemoon?
Tricky indeed, all I know is that I wouldn't take my business to Somalia until people are once again civilised.

Re: Zambians go wild: Looting of Somali businesses
Colonel, ha ka badbadinin adiguna. Apart from during the civil war, I've never heard of a clan taking some other guys shop. Secondly, Mogadishu isn't the only city in Somalia to do business and it because of this mentality that the civil war happened in the first place. Today you'll find a better business environment in Hargeisa, Bosaso, Berbera, jigjiga etc. There is no excuse for somalis to take their business to these savage countries. The only area of Somalia unstable is the deep south and this has been the case for more than a decade now. The risk of getting killed in Hargeisa by an RPG is far less then the risk of getting your ass sashimied by a bantu with a machete.
