Somaliland is already separate. The question should be why do you want Somaliland to be recognized. Personally for me I want Somaliland to
be recognized because I believe it can take advantage of the privileges that come with being a recognized state. Recognized or not I don't

Gurey Integration is the only way to go, it's the only way to succeed or else we will always be over powered by or larger neighbors. Aid is dole money on a macro-economic scale. And we all know how Somalis fair in productivity and success when they have dole/welfare available to them. The east Asians may have succeeded and used the Aid money well, but we aren't east Asians - our societies are vastly different in just about everything. Somalia's solution must come from Somalis. Somaliland and Somalia already live into different political and national realities so the separation already happened the 2 lives interests and paths have gone their separate ways. This was reached and done in 1991 and it cannot be reversed its rooted in the every inch of the society. Now if Koonfurians were really into the union i mean if they really wanted to make serious concessions for the union and that it remains preserved if they really loved the union the way the people of Somaliland loved it in the late 50s and 60s, they would've made serious compromises in the early 90s. And i believe they could have persuaded the Somaliland People but the SNM was waiting for a genuine partner in the south no leadership ever came from the South and after we heard on BBC Ali mahdi declaring him self president and calling for unification and that the SNM should surrender to his Militia and that the war started from Galguduud. The SNM was forced to organize the national reconciliation conference for the peoples of Somaliland as they did. They sat for days making a decision so there were many circumstances that led to the re declaration of independence of Somaliland. And once the Burco conference was Launched the people of Somaliland were fed up with the South they re calculated all their former errors the sacrifices they made for this cancerous union from the get to go in 1960. And came to conclusion that no more Somalia , for the people of Somaliland and the SNM had no other choice but to accept the aspirations of the Somaliland people which was full independence for Somaliland from Somalia and burying the former Somali republic. Even the Late Egal in 1998 the US state department suggested to him to take the Somali seat since it was empty he came with the idea to rule the former Somali republic from Hargeisa. But knowing the people this would've been seen as a treacherous act he backed down and wanted to present him self in a different way and wanted to reconcile the Koonfurians and a man who knows the ins and outs of the Walanweyns he almost succeed before the Phat Boy next Door in Djibouti used his diplomatic muscle to stop Egals policies for Somalia. I believe Egal wanted to make Abdiqasim the governor of the South and Egal the Presidents of Both Somalia and Somaliland , and that the 2 sides could separate when ever they preferred enshrined in the New Constitution, he was about to draft, remember this was before he initiated and drafted the Somaliland constitution as it currently stands he even tried to send messages through the media to the people of Somaliland through Ruwayaado. He drafted a whole new constitution for Somaliland and arrested any one who attended the Carta Conference including the current ina dhabeyee sultan and boqor raabi and the Dhulbahante garaad who attended. Somaliland started just after 2000 to make serious moves to wards championing the recognition cause for independence and during President Rayaales reign it intensified Somaliland reaching out the African Union , AU delegations arriving in Somaliland in 2005 and they issued a statement that Somaliland cause for independence should not be seen as one of secession actually a unique case in Africa. Even as far as trying to shift US support to Somalia towards Somaliland the US in 2008 making a statement that they would not oppose the SL recognition as long as the African union gives the first green light.
