I'm offended :-O
"A mans love is carnal and restless. A woman's love is distilled, more refined...it transcends boredom"
^ Beautiful statement right there...no where patronizing, sexist or misogynistic

Seriously though, if you read it with impartiality and without prior prejudice to it's implication, you have to admit it, the statement is a compliment to the resolute and admirable nature of females :D

I can't discuss polygamy, I have a vested interest in it. All my answers will be biased :(

Honest question, where do the kids fit into your polygamy equation?

Wait....why are you asking me? Personally, I would rather one woman and her kids who I can be there for. I can't imagine myself balancing two women. I prefer the option of polygamy stayed available though, just in case

Even though there is social, cultural and religious tolerance to polygamy in Somalia, it isn't really widely practiced. I think according to Islam (don't quote me on this), you are suppose to be in a plural relationship only if you can financial, emotionally, and physically fulfill your obligations to your wives and children. But of course this is abused by Muslim men.

I personally say that polygamy is a personal preference and so long as all the parties involved are happy and content with this sort of relationship, who are we to judge them. However, I of course, have an issues when a men takes up several wives and the women aren't even aware that their husband have multiple other relationships, which is what I think you are talking about when you are referring polygamy as a sex tourism. It is morally indecent to take the power to chose or to consent from the women involved. It is their life after all. If they are O.K with being in a polygamy relationship, then they wouldn't mind being in one, however, if she don't, taking the choice away from her should be a punishable crime in my eyes.

I didn't always looks at polygamy with favorable light, but that has changed since I met Somali Bantu families who practice plural marriages.
Very well put..

Not my cup of tea, but at the same time prefer not to extend my disapproval to those in favor of polygamy. It's a never ending argument..

There was an incident during the time of Cumar ibn Khattab (RA)...a man tried to divorce his wife and leave her penniless and burdened with kids at old age because she had gone 'off' her beauty and he wanted to marry a nice young woman. The wife was distraught and depressed she cried to the Amiir, who gave the man a strong admonition, look after your womenfolk and give them their rights. He said even if there is no more 'love' you must abide by marital obligation which is spirited through common objectives like raising righteous children and keeping strong familial ties. Diinta way cadahay ninka maloo ogolo inuu gabdho badan wada guursado kolkuu cadaalada uwada sinaan waayay...
