An independent Somaliland will mean that there will be fewer Jebertis for HAG to deal with. Is this a bad deal ? HAG and Issaq must cooperate on a long term separation with the Issaq playing a role in keeping up the pressure on PL, and managing their Jebertis (Silaanyo needs to stop playing around and secure his eastern border).

bravo jaalle brother please y'all could u understand that koonfurians and waqooyians have a virtually separate set of sub clans (only warsangeli are present in both sides of som'a/sland border of 1960) and that hawiyes in particular should stop being mooryaans as s/land has no connections to you historically, politically nor economically and 'somaliweyn' has failed hawiyes for 20+ years

My Awowe (AUN) who was in the SYL told a group of British Somalilander Independence Activists who came to Xamar in late 50s to push for unity, "Why don't you think carefully about it ? Getting independence is a difficult task, one should not give it up easily." They did not listen to him. My awowe was advocating that we first of all learn to manage our own respective states because at independence neither Somaliland or Somalia had strong institutions, a strong civil service nor economic resources. Rather than managing a larger country, why not start off with smaller ones. If there had to be a Union, he said lets do it after 10 years after we try managing as separate countries. Yet it was the Issaq delegation who were the most fiercest supporters of the Union and they did not listen at all. They said they could not return to hargeisa unless they had an agreement on Union.

If they had, things would have been better for both nations. It would have been 2 Somali states, both aligned against Ethiopia, 3 Somali states with 1 vote each at the AU, 3 Somali states (Djibouti, Somaliland, Somalia,)+1 Arab state (Sudan) vs. Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda in IGAD.

money talks my friend.... as i said the day the first well is struck the whole equation will change.
it will then be in the interests of certain countries to recognize us, it will be a race for who does it first to gain the advantage.

as for why did geneal leave somaliland ? it was because of massive corruption, they did it to show they are not happy with it.
They will be restarting operations in the next couple of months..
but you should know that they are close to hitting the finish line, after 3D siesmic imaging is done, they cannot be sitting on this
especially if they find commercial quantityies of oil, they will sell their shares and license immedietly to the majors
or dig themselvs.. you cannot stop greed. it didnt stop them in kurdistan and baghdad is allot more of a government than moqadishu and it actually controls territory outside baghdad.
right now nobody gves a shit about somalia, and somaliland is a good boy that doesn't cause any trouble, so can be ignored.
