I started saving little less than 2 years ago.I look maybe once in a while and sometimes forget for months.I am not investing for short term.It is little money that gets deducted from every pay.In index funds.
Same. I have a pension that is deducted from my salary & matched by the employer. To access it though you have to work till retirement age. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case; what if you leave the country, can't you ask for your contributions to return to you?
For me,if i need to withdraw,i need to pay taxes on it. Because it is tax free saving with yearly contribution limits. No employer matching tho.

I think I would pay taxes on mine too if I were to withdraw it earlier, but even then it would be under extenuating circumstances (e.g. leaving employment due to illness)

Yeah. Probably the employer involvement brings that on. I can withdraw mine any time. Just get taxed. Good to have for emergency.

You're right. I wonder if, when I find something else, I leave and ask for the pension I have been paying, if they'll tell me that I'm not entitled to anything.
I donno. In shaa Allah khair.

Yummy, just let it sit there. It is amazing but time flies and you will need it when you get old. When I retire, I anticipate a monthly withdrawal of at least 8,000 per month

The issue is not the pension remaining there, the issue is that I have to keep working the same job forever (till 68yrs old) in order to access it.

Okay I know it's a strange way of looking at it but it's the "I will eat meat but I won't kill an animal" philosophy. As long as xaranta sanka iiga jirin I can excuse it in my heart. E.g. I don't mind putting money in an inflation beating account where I am earning interest (it is how the system works) but to outright earn interest as income....I can't be at peace with that and I will probably create a self-fulfilling prophecy and make all my money barako-la'aan.

There has to be an in-between
Don't mean to judge (or maybe I do) but your thing is what they used to call "xaydha jecli beerka jecli". If you're dabbling , might as well go full tilt

Prices were up today, good Q3's (as I had predicted) but still because they'd fallen so badly it's going to take a while for them to go back to my purchase price

I am not pulling out until I at least breakeven no matter how long that takes. It's not the end of the world, I don't need that money just would have been nice to have made some instead of lost some you know

Invest in precious metals, and not on the stock market.
