Not true.EvolSyawla wrote: Bodheri, Hadraawi and most other poets come from the north
The reason you know those 2 is because Hardawi is still alive and is used by SLanders as a national symbol of sorts and Boodheri literally died broken hearted, that is one in a million. Maahine forget regions, every qabiil has a list of poets, just check their Wiki under prominent people. It's all about promoting your ow Kacaan did it with Darood poets and SLanders do it with theirs. If I had any interest in poetry or understood a word I'd have done the same for mine but it's not something I'm interested in and qabiil doesn't mean that much to me.
However you have a point, anyone and everyone can be romantic and say nice things to the person they care about....except reer Mudug

Can't speak for others but I don't call my brothers aboow/aboowe unless I am being sarcastic. I actually call people I'm not related to abaayo/aboowe more than I do my own siblings.Marques wrote:Aboowe meaning brother, how does one shukaansi with that termAtleast Huuno is cool in my books.
Growing up I found the thought of calling your spouse that disgusting but you have to admit it's kinda sweet, maybe it's an age thing.

It's not necessarily to do with shukaansi, it depends who says it, how they say it and who they're saying it to.X.Playa wrote:Most my walaweyn freinds call one another aboowe macaane! I get confused . Wasnt this supposed to be used between different sexes? Wtf
If you're trying to get someone to calm down or see your point of view, if you're trying to get something from them, if it has just become a part of your lingo like some of the guys here mentioned.
It's sweet and kind, I like that when taken out of situations that foster and encourage violent acts our men can still have that.
lool but that is sooo foreign, I only ever heard it online. I can't say it without it dripping with sarcasm and kibir, it would have the opposite effectAishahWaqooyi wrote:Jas if you want to shukansi.. I will let you on to a little secret somali men love the word hunno

Re: Aboowe macaan....
I hate to be called "aboowe macaan" by a woman older than. That happens alot. Aboowe is ok if the lady is my age; depends on how they say though.
When I hear "huuno" I see a gold digger.
"Ina adeer" is the word I love. Ina abti is a turn off.

Re: Aboowe macaan....
If a woman says Aboowe Macaane, that means she is ready for liberation
Women mostly use that when they want something from you, there is gotta be something in return or I would just
