Somalis are wild, they need a tough leader to tame them and make them productive. We were free under Siyaad Barre, the only thing we feared was Allah and of course we also feared Barre as he was our leader, but no Somali feared Amxaar, or Cadaan or Mexicans, we were dignified, becoming a powerful nation. If I was young man at that time I would join the military, and fight not for Siyaad Barre but for my country, to prevent it from collapsing, I would prolly die whiles exchanging bullets with moriyaans high on cocaine.

Guulwade Siyaad

i think the civil war was bound to happen whether siyad ever came to power or not, remember at the time of the coup siyad barre took over an african country whose president was assassinated and had over 60 political parties each one based on sub clans.

siyad barre just prevented the civil war for 21 years otherwise it would have happened in 1969

The civil war maybe would have happened, maybe no Somali will ever be able to quench the thirsty of the Somali tribal rivilaries. One thing is for certain Barre regime engineered a systematic policy of state intervention in playing one tribe against another. This is the deep rooted hate that today's chaos is founded on.

In order for Somalis to move on everybody must accept their share of the blame, be it Isaaq, Hawiye or Darod. This idea of hands my leader but yours is a murder only fuels the fire of hate. Marexaan should be able to accept that when it's all said and done in a dictatorship the buck stops at the dictators door. He not only hijacked the leadership but refused to give up when asked..

For me and my family the dislike because i dont want to say hate for MSB is personal as he was responsible and ordered an execution of an immediate family and exiled my family.
