-Things i think won't happen in our lifetime.

1. Freedom of speech - that includes freedom to insult or offend people. Yes that includes religion.
2. Freedom of religion - Religious minorities and atheists have a right to live freely in society
3. Protection of gays - Anti gay crimes will be considered hate crimes
4. Legalise marijuana and tax it.
5. Leaglise prostitution, otherwise it will create an underground world full of pimps & violence.
6. No draft in the military. You sign up for it if you want.
7. The only crimes punishable with jail sentences would be those that infringe on the rights of others (murder, rape, assault, fraud etc). This could include selling drugs to minors, but certainly not doing drugs, growing them, or synthesising them for personal use.
8. Separation of church and state. Religion should not be considered when passing laws.
9. Science would be at the root of all policy. The only debate that would take place about the validity of things like global warming would be within the scientific community. We the people could vote on policy around scientific the findings.
10. Universal healthcare. Funded by the tax payer.
11. Universal free education. Funded by the taxpayer.
12. Natural resources that the country depends upon for survival such as oil would be nationalised
13. Welfare safety net.
14. No death penalty.
15. Strict gun control. (looking at Japan as an example)

how about we exchange that retirement package for odayaasha to a package of dismissal and a total lack of Indifference to all the things you propagating. ..faggot rights; separation of religion and state; but most importantly atheist opinion on how a nation of (according to you are 98% muslims) should run their affairs?
This is why we cant have nice things.

I didnt even proposing gay marriage. All I said was gays should be protected under the law (from crimes & prosecution) like everyone else, and you savages went f-king apeshit over that.

You can fantasize all you want while you drink your Starbucks coffee and type on your Macbook, but if you come to Somalia with that neo-Atheism, gay-rights bullshit....expect a bullet to be placed in your head.

We Somalis won't stand for that bullshit. In fact, not even the Somalis in Canada who've been living there for 25 years would stand for that bullshit. Imagine the ones back home. Keep dreaming son, but we have no tolerance for your B.S. back home.

Now cut your losses and move on. Assimilate into American society and get lost in the crowd. Because there ain't no f-king way you Atheist cowards would be able to change Somalia. Believe me on that one. Not even the most liberal people of Somalia would tolerate your crap.

Thats cute lol.

You didnt answer my question though. Would you rather Somalia remained in this chaotic war zone situation over the ideas I proposed?

Its funny that you enjoy the Canadian freedom of speech laws, the Canadian hate crime laws (which you benefit from), the Canadian liberalism etc. but you wouldnt want that for Somalia? Thats how I know we're dealing with bipolar nutters.

I would actually be okay with that. We're not mature enough as a population have open societies.

I forgot we were dealing with the Somali Republicans on this site. God, gays and qabiil is their motto.

It's actually a little cute that you propose such far-fetched ideas and trying to spread it into the Somali community.

Our community has become far more religious over the past couple decades, with today's youth being more religious than their parents.

Either way your question is a little loaded, because you group in ideas/proposals which have nothing to do with one another and then try to make it into one package, as if the two separate ideas aren't mutually exclusive.

Are you kidding me right now? What kind of question is that?

I deal with Somalia as it is, not as how I'd like it to be. It's not perfect, and Somalia does has some serious faults, but overall I'm very optimistic about our future as a people.

You on the other hand, want to see Somalia follow a different trajectory. And since it frustrates you how religious our Somali people are (in fact more religious than they were 40 years ago), then you have no choice but to be pessimistic about our future

That's basic human psychology.

Growing religiousness is a common side effect of war. In times of peace and prosperity, people generally tend to be less religious. In times of war and destitution, people as a whole become more religious. It's like a non-practicing muslim that doesn't pray, drinks alcohol, and eats pork and then when something terrible happens then become a sheikh over night, praying to god for the problem to go away and when it does, back to normal life.

This pattern has happened all though human history, including islamic history. The Abbasid caliphate, The longest-lasting and most intellectual caliphate, had such thing as alcohol, prostitution, and gambling in the capital of baghdad and other part of the caliphate. Other example is Muslim spain where the Caliph Al-Hakam II was openly gay and had all male harems.

So once stability and prosperity comes to somalia, the somali people eventually loosen up as well.

The death penalty is needed for religious extremists and child molesters who take small children as their wives. Also death for those against human rights and who use violence to make a point of their opposition to human rights. Death for murderers and rapists too. Just because you are a sheikh or from a laandheere clan doesn't mean you can get away with it. Also spys and bootyclappers for Xabashi and Kenyans and Arabs get death. Life imprisonment for gay bashers or anti gay propaganda. Any one who starts a rebel movement to start their own government will be imprisoned for life.

Holocaust denial should be a 1 year sentence. Racism against Bantus gets 10 years. Pro colonialist Somalis will get 10 years imprisonment.

Arabic banned. Ethiopian languages banned. Swahili banned. Clannism banned. 50% of workforce must be from minority clans. 50% of govt cabinet must be minority clans.

Western sex education starting age 12.

Any of the laandheere who belittle the minorities will be thrown in prison for life. Lazy people who miss work for no reason will get 30 days in jail and work in the field.

Tax credits for minority clans.

Y'all gonna be buried in foreign soil, get with the times and accept your status as the diaspora.

I, on the other hand, will be at right at home in Mugdi Mudug with four Ilko Caas Xalimos in tow and a dozen sons to start off a new Moryaan dynasty called Reer Zumaale.
