That is a fact.

People here are talking about some random act of kindness which every human is capable of regardless of the ethnicity, race or religion of the people they help. Look around in the city you live, how many Somali tribal organisation exist? Even many of our mosques are now administered and attended on tribal basis. Indeed, it is "6 feet under". Well , asalama alaikum . I don't think so . Since we speak the language of the ingiriis let's use his history as a reference , friggin ingiriis :lol:
Does anyone today, in great Britain really care about who retraces his ancestry to Wessex , Northumbria or East Anglia ?{except a couple of bored aristocrats }
No!
Here is the good news my friends , with a little honesty vis a vis ourselves and the help of our good natured friend of the world , it won't take us another 10 centuries

Wa caleykum salaam walaal. Walaal Scotland almost decided to separate from the UK just a few months ago, and they know they're not "English" so feelings of being "different" and the issue of "identity" or even a "sense of belonging" does indeed exist in some parts of the world, including the UK. Whether that means belonging to a different ethnic nation (Scot vs. English in the UK, black vs. white in America), or a different religious group/sect (i.e. Sunni vs. Shia in Iraq, Catholic vs. Orthodox in Yugoslavia), or even something as trivial as the fashion of governance (Communists vs. Monarchists in Russia). Heck, the mighty US of A fought a bitter civil war because of (based on who you believe) slavery.

The point I'm trying to make is that you can fuel even the smallest of fires and grow it to the size of a civil war as soon as you get rid of law and order. You get rid of law and order, and the best country descends into absolute chaos (just look at what happened in NOLA when hurricane Katrina hit, or in LA when those cops attacked Rodney King). Somalida waa shacab that is capable or cooperation (early examples of xeer Aji, xeer Ciise, or the many recent examples of cities and towns where different clans lived together in peace and harmony). The warm reception of the SYL of Somalis from every corner of the horn is another example. Deep down, most of us are a good people, regardless of our tribe. To judge shacabka Soomaaliyeed based on a few years of chaos, with complete absence of law and order, is not a fair judgement. To judge shacakba Soomaaliyeed based on the actions of a few bad leaders is every more unfair (yes Siad Barre did some things, but some poor Ogaadeen fellow going about his business shouldn't pay his this. Yes Bush bombed Iraq, but some poor American fellow shouldn't pay for this either). Foreign shit disturbers and bad leadership play huge factors, and yes, we're as the people are partly responsible for believing the propaganda of different groups with their own agendas.

As much as I would like to get rid of qabiil, I don't think it's a realistic solution. For argument's sake, let's say we get rid of qabiil, I assure you if we want to fight we'll find a reason (ex. geographical reasons such as reer Waqooyi vs reer Koonfur, or based on what dialect we speak, or some trivial garbage like that). What we need to emphasize is that, despite the fact that we come from different qabaa'il, speak different dialects and accents, nomadic vs. city dwellers... despite ALL those differences we have a common bond of SOOMAALINIMO, and more importantly, we need to realize that, without each other, we are vulnerable.... but with unity, we are unstoppable, insurmountable. THAT is Soomaalinimo.

To me, Soomaalinimo doesn't mean that that I have to renounce my tribe and forget about my ancestry and dialect. Soomaalinimo means that if my brother from a different tribe, different city, different dialect gets attacked or is struck with a natural disaster, then I'll come to his rescue and aid because we are SOMALI (our fellow snetters with deep historical knowledge can attest to the fact this has happened on many occasions in our history). Soomaalinimo also means the prosperity of shacabka Soomaaliyeed first and foremost.

Universal suffrage wasn't achieved overnight, but it has happened, and so can Somali cooperation on a mass level.

For those who disagree: I respect your opposing view. Just keep it civil. :up:
