I don't subscribe to the notion of the groom spending an obscene amount of money on what should be a simple ceremony joining two people in matrimony.

This ostentatious spending that basically amounts to a bride price is obviously a patriarchal relic where women are practically considered a commodity.

Ideally, a society that has moved beyond simplistic gender norms no longer expects broke ass faraxs to spend their entire life savings on a marriage that is highly likely to fail.

The fools who have encouraged the bourgeois affectations of their soon to be ex-wives deserve nothing but scorn and ridicule.
:usure: So we gon pretend that Somali culture isn't patriarchal? That women aren't held to traditional gender roles? We gon act like Somalis don't equate a woman's meher to her "worth" :usure: I wonder when we went through this cultural revolution :MJ:

Hierarchy and patriarchy have been vindicated by history and science. Just look around you and witness the cultural and moral wasteland that is the West, thanks to the bankrupt ideas of the left.
Never!

When man overcomes his baser instincts and instead strives for total and irrevocable equality, the red and black banner will proudly flutter from every domicile, every region, every continent, every hemisphere, every planet until the Big Crunch!

It is true that Somali culture is in dire need of reform, but we must also ensure that each and every one of us acts in a manner befitting of reformists.

For my part, the meher will be a promise of eternal faithfulness and equity.

We must become the change we seek etc.etc.

It depends on the type of wedding u want, the number of guests ....and the venue. The cheapest wedding i have ever been to was one of my friends wedding..it was around 3k...i was the Dj, my friend cooked the food, and her sister made the cake.

If you want to marry a Somali girl at an affordable prize. Just grow a beard, tell her your a new convert and she will marry you for McDonald's coupons.
