I agree he was sold by his parents. I replied too soon, I meant he was moved through the port of Zeila to Yemen where he was sold again.

Which brings us eventually to India, where he rose among the ranks from a slave to the right hand man of Murtaza Shah II , the Sultan of the Ahmednagar Sultanate.
Surely if he was once King of India, he would have been more known globally. Declaring an ex-slave as Sultan would be a great insult to these Indians.
In the end Malik Ambar remains just an ant in the rich history of India.
