As they say elsewhere---Never Again.

To be honest gar waa leedahay, HSM and Hawiye are soft on SL secession and that sets an example for every region challenging Xamar. I don't care how much i hear about a 5 day state in the 60's it was never a conditional settlement for them to join Somalia. But my comment was just kaftan with balwarama he believes in a Darod Arab ancestor proselytizing Somalis and i am pointing out from his own traditions the Samaale people who preceded him is where the culture, language, features, genes and everything that is Somali comes from. Guul Daarood hadaad wadani noqotiin and shed this anti Somali behaviour, hadii kale ajnabi doon ku yimid baa nahay dhaha dalka wax kuma lihin then we may look to repatriate
My personal genetic tests as a Darod gives me a paternal haplotype of E-V32 with an mtDNA of U3a1.

The vast, overwhelming results from other Darod, with diversity almost down to "statistical noise", has similar paternal haplotype implicated within the E-V32 results shared with 77% of nomadic Somalis.

There is no, or negligible, "Arab/non-Somali originated" Darod and furthermore, just as poignant if not even more so, given the contrast with Dir and paternal haplotype T association, there is no genetic or blood descent "Irir" justaxposed against "Darood" or implicating whatever origins has been alluded to by "Samaale."

Darod---and I would even say specifically as Marehan, confirmed as E-V32, given the historical length of recorded corroboration implicating us within a Somali people; were a Samaale to mean an original Somali, nevermind someone using it against me to "otherize" me, I would be among an original heralder of the formation of "Samaale" itself!

Like above and Jubbaland; it is very obviously easy to surmise a "reappropriation" has taken place, oddly in this instance made possible by the post-Islam Darod allusion to "Shariffite" origins activated by linking love of Islam and closeness to the Prophet as representing what is "Noble; but, nevertheless, then leading to the place conversely abdicated by Daroda to become a useful tool for the disparate members of Somali ethnic hood in their responses to the disproportionate historical influence and impact of Darod "within" the Somali people.

The reappropriation of "Samaale" or "Irir" is just a sociological response to the competition "in-group" (Somalis) specifically as a tool against historically corroborated Darod "disproportionate impact."

I am not really interested in arguing about what this means or meant nor I or someone else perpetuating vainglory as a motivation.

Whether one "loves" it or "despises" it---objective historical analysis is resolute on the points underlying the historical presumption pointed above.

So what was is beside the point---the "how" such a reappropriation manifested itself is the relevance.
I think the DNA research has cooled off some egos and helps Somalis more wholeheartedly appreciate being related to each other and that's why i felt bad when you said Somalinimadada ma rabo. Waa wax loo simanyahay fkd aside. But we have institutionalised the clan system based on tradition. The Darod even carry the Ismail Jeberti name in their clan chief official titles and visits to Yemen. They will also tell you they have relatives in Eritrea, Mahra and Oman. Perhaps Samaale was a long term strategy to keep the Horn away from a 2006 scenario "Tigray Ismail iyo Darod Ismail" ironically the Somali name exists as a town and valley in Yemen but instead of exploring what ancient influence we once exerted there some jaahil scholars have claimed Samaale as a Qurayshi Aqeeli of Yemen while others said he was an Egyptian of the Abbasid era. Hawiye and Darod are brothers. If we all acknowledged that we would be great like our bronze age ancestors.

My statement "re:"soomaalinimadaada" was a tongue-in-cheek reaction to your statement above my post in which I thought you were speaking about me without identifying me.

I was indicting ethno-nationalism which is used to politically manipulate my community (a topic I have substantively engaged more than once) and not necessarily disinheriting myself of our ethnicity (as if I could).

You know this is very odd Abkoow, SultanOrder I believe mentioned it to me in passing while I was in Africa and always meant to address this with you.

How very pleasantly surprising that you and "we" (as it is not only myself, but all my siblings and possibly more) are "4th cousins" which in Somali terms might as well be brother. This Hawiye/Mudulood/Abgaal guy with Hawiye reer abti and my Darod/Sade/Marehan self with Marehan rer abti are essentially "brothers." Wallahi in a nutshell that says it all about us as Somali maryooley when you really get to where the rubber meets the road.

Abkoow, brother, you and I are;

There's definitely a link sxb. Initially i thought maybe it could be through my HG side or MJ ayeeyo. My DNA is the strongest in Mudug and Banadir. However Murax from Gedo is my 4th cousin as well.

Yes, it is not a family thing or even a regional thing, there seems to be a "Marehan" thing. Whatever links you and I share seems to be whatever links you and a large group of Marehan share.

I imagine there is a "founder effect" approximation here---or in other words whatever established that link had disproportionate reproduction rate and so the dna traveled and replicated quite fast within Marehan.

I have a suspicion but first can you do me a favor sxb? Can you find out for me as much of your "maternal" ancestors you can gather from family and kin from both maternal and paternal side?

That is the clearest way of establishing the "details" of our relations.
