Aisha was a child both mentally and physically in the days of the Mohammed. Humans were weaker, smaller and slower physically back those days then they are today. A fact amply supported by every record-breaking feats achieved by athletes in the olympics. In every olympic event, new track & field and weight lifting records are set. Humans of today wear bigger shoes and larger clothes then they did 100 years ago. All the result of better diet and health care.

The only difference between the times of Mohammed and the present is the value placed on children. The independent variable being life expectancy for children. Children didn't seldom survive childhood. Consequently families had more children then today and children had to earn their living during their childhood. The chances of them reaching adulthood were very low. They would be employed to do work earn the family some income or be married off to some1. This view of children is still true in the third world, where child marriages are still the norm.

So you are right, Mohammed's marriage to Aisha at age 6 wasn't something unusual for its time. It was common occurance for his time for a common man. Not a 'prophet' of God for all times. Which is what he was. That I never disagreed with.

What rights are you talking about? With the exception of ending infanticide, I'm hard pressed to find anything Islam 'gave' to women (if that can be considered a right that is).

Don dijibouti, my dear, according to your above a statement, i take it, living in a wahabi inspired muslim world as we have today, that the custom of the prophet is considered sunni, and the "way of life " now how can you tell me that the man was behaving properly for his time, if men of all time are to mimick his good behavior? considering the popularity of his hadiths(the so called hearsay collections of Bukhari and friends)

....as for a fact, the prophet spoke only words of god, any custom or personal behavior was basic human behavior, what he did in his life was naration from those not close to him, all 4 caliphas forbade any wriiten text claiming the prophet's habits and tendencies(if you look back in history, all hadith circulation and collection began after the 3rd caliphy) becauseTHEY ARE ALL VOID AND FULL OF CONTRADITION and there was to be no other teachings contradicting & competing with the holy quran. The most credible hadiths are those written by a man born 200 years after his death( Bukhari).

If we base all our knowlegde about the prophet on some sayings by random losers from turkey and aboard, we risk our foundation of faith.

...while human societies change sociopathical tendencies rather quickly, and while pediphile societies die off and give way to homosexuals and other bizare practices, it is in no way possible to claim that the prophet practiced such customs.

.....just keep that in mind religious masses of confused islam.

It is un healthy to respond back and forth to the worthless outcasted kaafir. For the reason that they are nothing but Irrelevant, dump and deaf who don't see the light of the righteounes. It is the better for the dignitory believers to ignore such group.
