The root of the word is " Kh-La Fa" could be kelfa mean your own offspring. Kalifa which means the ruler. The work you looking and mistaking with is " khalf" or behind.

Mutakhalef fid not come from Kha-La-Fa. Kha-La- Fa is masdar al-kelma.
