Gedo, you know what your problem is, you want everything to be perfect. Indha-cade was used because his qabiil was militarily dominant in some areas and without him Islamic Courts would not be effective or able to defeat warlords. Because of him, Islamic Courts have rapidly advanced in Middle provinces and captured Balcad, Jowhar, Hiiraan, Ceelbuur, Cadaado, Shebelle Hoose, and even Kismaayo without that much of blood shed. Indha-cade abandoned his administration in Marka, works with the Courts without any condition. He was very helpful and played a significant role in this movement.
Did Hiiraale accept when Courts requested him to work with them, even though he was ruling a place where he did not belong to? Bare Hiiraale would have been treated the same as indha-cade if he was as clever as Indha-cade and wanted to join Islamic Courts. As of today, in Kismaayo, Marrexaan, Majeerteen and Ogaadeen are all equal, they share with the power and those wadaado are happy to work together and also work with the rest of Somali wadaado regardless of their qabiil, so my dear brother Gedo-boy, why canÂ’t you see the big picture and this achievement instead of supporting your qabiil-mate Bare Hiiraale? IsnÂ’t it good idea for you to stop promoting rumors and the cheap shots you are aiming at those great Somali wadaado who would like to get rid of qabiil and his group??
Support those Daarood wadaado who rule in Kismaayo if you respect qabiil ideologies that much, because they are the ones who need your support, not a warlord and qabqable dagaal like Hiiraale.

What do you mean he joined the ICU with no conditions?
Do you know when he turned over control of Shabeelada? He became Security Head of the ICU while he was still in control of those regions.
After there was a big uproar about them attacking Kismayo, they threw a little 'ceremony' about him turning over control of those places.
Do you think it's up to Daahir Aweys to decide who controls this or that place?
Sade Wadaado talked to the ICU before they invaded Kismayo.......they said they shouldn't attack Kismayo for 2 reason:
1. There is no relative insecurity in Kismayo.
2. Hiiraale hasn't harmed Wadaado and there is no reason to suspect he would threaten him.
The Sade Wadaado were ignored
Don't tell me about Sade Wadaado, because my own Abti was part of the Sade Wafdi that went to Kismayo after the event, but now he left Kismayo.
Why don't you talk to the Sade Wadaado about the Bu'aale incident
Or about IndhaCadde calling them Kaafirs?

Why is it when I say that I am disappointed in the ICU people accuse me of Qabiilism?
If it makes you feel any better, a co-worker I was just talking to who is the same sub, sub, sub clan of Sh. Shariif says he supported the ICU but now his trust is lost for similar reasons.
You can't have a disagreement with the ICU otherwise you are a Qabiilist.............or even yet a Kaafir

GB,
I am starting to think that the main reason you oppose the ICU has more to do with Hiiraale and Kismayo rather than their lies, decptions and mischief...and I hope I am wrong....cos that will certainly make you or befit you to the role these ICU blind supporters want you to be.
I dont trust the ICU simply because of their composition and because of their leadership...Aweis, Indha Cadde and above all A. Qasim....all men of Ceyr...as to Sheikh Sharif( we have his counter-part in the TFG...the other Sharif...La Yusmin walaa yugnii min Juuc) and Turki...they are merely tools....and in this cae the end justifies the means...and that aint Islamic...as far as I know..

Cawar,
Hiiraale was a clear-cut case........that's why.
Everything else before was unclear. I mean, the Warlords in Xamar attacked them first, so naturally it looked like self-defense.
When they started attacking people that didn't attack them, ofcourse you grow suspicious.
Plus, when Turki was saying that there are secret plans, it increased my suspicion big time.

^^ Did you mean Aweys and Sheikh Sherif? If that is what you meant, yes, I agree with you. they are the head of Islamic Courts. But, hey without the rest of other Sheikhs such as Turki, Mukhtaar rooboow and Sheikh Ahmed, Islam, they will never be able to accomplish this great achievement.
Gedo, the secret of Islamic Courts is to capture the whole Somali provinces and eliminated qabiil ideology. It is too soon to predict right now, but, Inshallah time will tell. I am kind of optimistic and I believe that these wadaado are the best thing ever happened to Somalia after the civil war.

For this development to turn into a positive, four things have to happen:
a. The courts would have to GENUINELY share power. The Haber Gedir would not be the sole power brokers.
b. The courts would have to reject Islamic extremism and make a place for Western Oritented Somalis in society.
c. The courts would have to engage western powers and ensure that Al Qaeda associates were not using Somalia as some sort of staging base.
d. The courts would have to renounce irredentist claims on the Ogaden or the Ethiopians won't leave them alone.
If they fail on either count, Somalis domestic situation could get ugly quickly.

Well, this development is already positive to the eyes of Millions of Somali people and the rest would see that near the future.
A. I don't know if you have noticed it but Islamic Court's political system is somehow shaped as a tribal system at this moment. this does not mean that they value the clan ideology, but they do assign every tribe/clan to the place they seize. You would not see a Habar Gidir man taking a position in a place where Abgaal, Ogaadeen, Murarsade, Mareexaan and others are dominant and vise verse. Since Somalia has been in a civil war and qabiil was the prime reason why we have been fighting, i think it is not that easy for us to get rid of the qabiil disease. so, Islamic Courts are aware of this danger and they are doing a better job to avoid it before people react or consider them as a Tribal Oriented Militia. sharing the power/leadership will come later on when the time is right to do so, but not at this time when they haven't met their goal yet, even though nearly every tribe is allowed to rule by itself and be independent from the rest of other areas.
B. There is always a place for Somali people whether they are Western orientated Socities or Asian Societies as long as they comply and adopt the way Islamic Courts would like its citizens to follow the law and order. if those Societies have adopted Western culture which was for once strange to them, it would not be that hard for them to adjust themselves in the community and change the way of their life style according to what is moral to the Courts as long as they choose to immigrate back to their country.
C. Islamic Courts don't associate with Al-Qaeda. it is just a fake propaganda that western countries would like to spread against them and other Muslim countries if they see that country is against their interests or somehow that country is focused to establish itself even if it is not interesting engaging the so called terrorist acts. In order to find whether those Courts associate with Al-qaeda, they need to clarify their claim.
D. Ogaadeen war is over and Islamic Courts are not willing or even dreaming to wage a war against Ethiopia. It is just a fear that Ethiopian regimes have, but i am not dennying that Somali-ethiopians would recieve some kind of political support from Islamic Courts and it would be inevitable to prevent that Islamic Courts to have political influenes inside Ethiopia which would not be limit to Ogaadeens. However, this will only happens if Meles Zenawi continues what he is doing right now.

You only have to look at these pages to see that the ICU is divisive right now. I have a friend in Mogadischu who I provide funding to for his family, and so we email fairly frequently. He says he is happy that there is more stability in the city, but concerned that the Hawiye are controlling so much right now. He says Aweys and Indacahde drive around like they own the place.
Now, I would say the courts need to walk a fine line when it comes to determining "What's Islamic." For example, mixed weddings are the cultural norm. If the Islamists want to discourage that, that might work. If they go in with guns, break up wedding ceremonies, and arrest people, that's not going to fly. For people used to being able to rent a hollywood movie, like those living in the west, and suddenly a bunch of turbaned d!cks start saying they can't, or that their daughters can't go to school, for a lot of people, that crap will be a non-starter.
Current members of the Islamic courts have associated with Al Qaeda. This is a fact that the USG is aware of. The extent of those associations is debateable. But there are individuals wanted for the Embassy bombings in Somalia RIGHT NOW. And we know it. It's not important how we know it. So, the courts are suspect right now.
As for the Ogaden, if the courts want to fight the Ethiopians, bottom line is they will regret it. Not a good move.
