The Hunter (2011). 7/10.
A very sad coming-to-terms-with-yourself tale.

Anyone seen the BBC drama "The Ark" based on Nuux calayhi salaam? It was apparently made using verses from the Qur'aan & bible. I would advise not to, it is xaraam to impersonate prophets in flesh or drawings or otherwise. Tempting, but no.

Edit: meanwhile, though not a movie, the Poldark series on BBC... :wow:

^ I don't have BBC, but is the show any good?

I have a thing for those types of movies...I watched Noah (Russel Crowe, 7/10) and the new Moses movie (Christian Bale, 4/10). Noah was very good, Moses film was horrrrrrrrrrible.

Both added their nonsense to the story, sadly.

I just finished Paid In Full. Don't know how many times Ive seen it, but it's a gem for some reason lol 7/10.

^ Lol the show is fairly good, 6/10 has some eye candy in it which elevates it somewhat

Really know a lot of Muslims who went and saw Passion of the Christ. Even our local mosque went with students from the weekend Islamic school.

Have you seen the umar series pretty good.

I won't lie, I have seen The Passion of The Christ many years ago on TV  for 2 reasons; it was directed by Mel Gibson (he has a good eye for this sort of thing, his themes/films are exactly in tune with what I love to watch) and secondly I really wanted to hear Aramaic and see for myself how close Arabic & Hebrew are, which they are, so close :ehh:

But weirdly enough I didn't/don't see it as insulting/offensive or that it broke the rule for impersonating Prophets, because they filmed it from the Christian perspective & narrative of Jesus dying and being crucified, when in fact we hold a different truth to have occurred.

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009) - very weird yet pulls you along somehow. Sean Penn's ex does a brilliant & convincing acting job. And Keanu Reeves of course. 7/10 (1 more for Keanu).

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) - the most disgusting, hilarious, creepy and riveting movie I have seen in a long time. Excellent acting by the British lead. So much so that I genuinely worry for his sanity, the way he embodied that role. Highly recommended, but be warned 9/10

Renoir (2012, French) - I wanted more art, less characters, more brush strokes, less life stories, more about the mind & stories behind those masterpieces. Found it lacking to my expectations. Some scenic parts though, the valleys especially. 3/10

In the extremely unlikely event that a French director stumbles across this, can you please film all the impressionist heroes in their youth to middle age, particularly Cezanne, Monet & Renoir... do it if but for the money it brings alone. The way they capture the light :lawd:

not a move, but the Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell BBC series on magicians, prophecies and other-wordly beings is very odd. Don't yet know how to make heads or tails of it :| I feel it's quite shaydaanic, but the giddy, clueless Jonathan is haplessly amusing.

Will watch a bit more before I can rate it.

Edit: Tatau, the kiwi mystery/supernatural series on BBC; solid program, decent storyline & no pointless nudity/sex scenes :ehh: 8/10

What's the difference between the Moses, Jesus, and Noah films? They are all from non Islamic perspectives.

^ As I said, in that case they do not bother/offend me personally, though they are still not acceptable islamically. In the case of the BBC Noah story, the makers publicly marketed it as "mixing narrative from the Qur'aan & the Bible". If the makers of said movies are not deriving the content from our Qur'aan or Sunnah, then they are not portraying the prophet(s) in question but rather fabrications.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

incredibly well shot film, the church scene was insane. :damn: :wow:
Overall it was a very fun, entertaining movie

And Colin Firth was sooo good, never imagined him as action hero before though I've always liked his acting, so not surprised exactly that he pulled it off.
