Bossaso and Kismayo teams reach Somalia football semi-final
27 Dec 27, 2010 - 9:50:22 AM
Two teams advanced to the semi-finals in Somalia's national football tournament held inside the country since 1987, Radio Garowe reports.
On Monday, two football teams representing Bari and Lower Jubba regions reached the semi-finals after beating their opponents in the quarter finals.
The first match featured an exciting game between Bari region (Bossaso) and Bay region (Baidoa), with Bari region advancing to the semi-finals by beating Bay team 3-to-2 goals.
The second match featured Lower Jubba (Kismayo) and Middle Shabelle (Jowhar) teams, with the match ending with no goals scored.
The Lower Jubba team won 4-3 in penalty kicks afterwards.
Tuesday’s game features Nugal (Garowe) vs. Banadir (Mogadishu), while Wednesday’s match features Lower Jubba vs. Bari.
The final game is to be held on Friday in Garowe, the capital of Puntland State, a stable region in northeast Somalia with its own government and security forces.
Puntland is hosting the first national football tournament inside Somalia for the first time in 23 years. Somalia’s last effective national government collapsed in 1991 and the country’s south has been mired in endless conflict.
The stable region of Puntland considers itself a federal autonomy and has consistently supported a federal system of government in Somalia since Puntland's formation in 1998.

According to my own understanding, I'm sure Nugaal is the only Team who can win these tournament on the basis of the way they have beaten two of the hardest teams of the tournament which is Hiiran and Mudug...
Great tournament thus far

Addow don't celebrate just yet Bari is still in the game, and they are favoured to win. Benadir was a thing in the past, not anymore sxb.

Re: SOMALIA SOCCER CUP 2010 Coverage
See how everything and anything Dhabayoco does is politically motivated; even in sports. I watched one of the games where the announcer was introducing the j/hoose team and he kept saying Kismaayo team, Kismaayo team, Kismaayo team....Why is that? Just because Harti once dominated Kismaayo economically doesn't mean that it belonged to them. And trust me, I am one of few Absame Diaspora who believes peaceful coexistence with Harti waamo. But please take away politics from sports, say j/hoose, sh/dhexe and so on.....Why would you want to deny the contributions of a player from Afmadow, Xagar, or Badhaadhe when you refer the team as Kismaayo team?tightrope wrote:Bossaso and Kismayo teams reach Somalia football semi-final

Feel bad Nugaal is gone; I wanted Nugaal to win it all just for the locals....
