AY has no real power. Power resides with Tigre's and Maxamed Dheere. Tell me something new.

The 21 years rule of Barre was unnatural, it retarded the nation, infected the nation its state apparatus with clannism. And everything that is unnatural comes to an end: Collapse of Barre regime and destruction of the infected state apparatus. What followed is history.

The brave masses of Mogadisho have accomplished something great which can not be overshadowed by the shameless behaviour of warlords, criminals, political prostitutes and not to forget: remnants of Siad Barre.

You can twist and turn as u want, but Siad Barre's legacy cannot be changed.

The Kacdoon of 1991 will forever be remember as a new chapter in Somali history. After this year, Somalis and Dictatorship are incompatible.

Siad Barre's picture will be put next to the definition of brutal dictator. That is his legacy.

Now wait a minute, that may be going a little bit far. Rolling Eyes Lets not get all emotional please. Smile

Baare's legacy is not ALL dictatorship.Although dictatorship is significant part of his legacy-- the currently long 17 year old chaotic civil war has proven or actually vindicated Siyaad Baare in terms of 'legacy'. Clearly -- u have to give it to the ugly man- he held together the CEEB of Somalis or Somaliweyne. He caged animals so well, given majority of the somali civilians a minimal peace and prosperity of a quarter of a century. That fact cannot be ignored. Smile I mean-- aside from the progress of Somaliland and --gradually Puntland--The rest of south Somalia brings Baare to some sort of dignity. In a way-- Moryaanism -- has blessed the name of Baare in a prudential light! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

''held together the CEEB of Somalis or Somaliweyne. He caged animals so well, ''

He did not cage animals but instead made people into animals by his brutal rule. After he was gone everybody wanted to be the next Barre, these animals he created have ruined it for the masses which wanted freedom and prosperity.

There is nothing that can vindicate Barre and his brutal military dictatorship.

This is just an transitional period which is natural thing when central authority dissapears and society is faced with power vacuum. ofcourse this transitional period has been worsened by incompetent people calling themselves leaders.

Somaliweyne???

Transitional period??? Try 18 years and counting in transitional. You have to give it to him. You can't blame this chaod of few people or incompetent leaders. You have to separate your anger for Baare and look deep into the matter.Ever heard -dont argue with a fool because people wont tell the difference??? Well my point is-- Fine Baare was a dictator-- I agree-- He was brutal-- i agree--- but has anyone else --any leader at least stepped forward and at least maintained was baare had?? A government, despite its lack of Eutopian values? Peace and prosperity?? A passport for Gods sake. Nothing!

Essentially today we cannot stand and say-- Hey--Baare was awful-- because we have Hebel Hebel for a leader now. What do we have to show for but pathetic Marexaan glory days nolstagia here in the forums?? Please--- give me a break. Rolling Eyes

Muktar--i wont blame u if u cry from aboo Baare-- he molested u ma ha ? uuuufff Rolling Eyes

Basra you are to emotional to discuss these kind of things.

Barre had his legacy.

This transitional period will end as soon as the Barre remnants leave the scene.

What Led To Siyad Bare's Downfall?

Simple....clanist umad/people and opportunist from all over. The greatest mistake Siyaad Barre (aun) made was not hailing from their clan. Smile
