Why do you make stupid statements like this? For what-ever it was worth, it facilitated trade and communication between the North-Eastern Somalis and beyond. Belittling a fundamental progressive step in the Somali history simply because of a personal grudge against a particular clan or to get your point across just shows what a fan of falsehood you really are. It sucks that people have to put up with your silly childish propensities
You sound as fake as Dolly Parton's tits dude.
Horta, with your feminine atitude and personality, you certainly need breast implants
Twisted_Logic, thanks for the book , very interesting indeed

Typical of Voltage, instead of looking and rebutting the actual argument, he starts petty name-calling, without exploring and thinking about the arguments

The 1966 commission

In 1966 the government of Aden Abdulle Osman and his prime Minster Abdirisak Hagi Hussein appointed another committee. Soon after the nomination of this committee, UNESCO sponsored experts were invited to form a linguistic commission. The experts including B. W. Andrzejewesk, S.Strelcyn, and J. Tubiana arrived in Mogadishu in March 1966. But they met demonstrations by the groups favouring Arabic. No specific recommendation was made. The commission found numerous problems in choosing any of the indigenous script on technical or scientific grounds. Soon after Abdirisak's cabinet fell. The new president was Abdulrashid Ali Sharmarke, who is said to have once exclaimed:

As long as I am in the power, I shall never permit the adoption of Latin characters
for Somali (quoted in Latin 77: 111).

Is there an extant archive of early copies of DALKA? I saw copies in early 1966 that had articles in both English and afSomali, with the afSomali in latin script.

The differences in the Latin scripts had mostly to do with the number of vowel repititions and the treatment of the aspirated "H". Muusa Galaal used "hh"; Hersi Magan used "H" with a "/" through it, and Shire Jamac used "X". I can't remember ever seeing "C" used for "ain". I only remember"'".
