+chili,
diinta waa laga maturegaroobaa miyaa? was part of the Quran for the Dark Ages?
You're talking so coldly about 'human experiment' and how other cultures don't do it......you know why?
They have mistresses, chicks on the side, whores......women who will never have the privelege or right to be considered a wife.
So women are: "Hear no evil, see no evil".....as long as I don't know he's not cheating on me then I'll pretend he's not. A lot of children are neglected and born out of wedlock and a lot of women are never properly wedded due to this 'mature behavior'.
Gedo, don’t pretend to misunderstand me or make this a diin thing, I mentioned China because they are having a crisis in that men outnumber women, I was just flipping the situation Advo presented. Should Chinese women marry more than one guy,for the sake of the men?
About the whole comparing cultures, like the non-believers answers to their desires, this is irrelevant, that’s totally haram, and multiple wives isn’t the answer, that’s just making it ‘xalal’, is that an easy way out to a serious default? Why should you follow your desire, what is the point in the diin if you can’t even control the most basic aspect of your ego.
Now about your dark ages comment, you are implying that we should practise an act that was practised and well rooted in pre-Islamic Arabia, the Qur’an limited (not totally forbidding it, because Allah the All-Merciful gradually wished to change the practises) and strongly Allah suggests mono. Look at the Qur’an, its repeatedly uses the concept ‘pairs’ ‘partners’.
Guys you can control your desire, you don't have to cheat on your wife, one woman is and should be enough!, shiish, maaxa iid kaa diiman?

Allah actually encourages and says "Marry one" as Allah SWT knows that people would/could not be able to deal justly with more than more than one

Fah, your right hunno here:
To orphans restore their property when they reach their age, and do not substitute your worthless things for their good ones, and devour not their substance by mixing it up with your own. For this is indeed a great sin. If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four ; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with them, then marry only one." (Qur'an 4:2-3)
This one needs to be put into context, battle of Uhdu, do I need to explain what it is suggesting?
Second one:
You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try. Therefore, do not be so biased as to leave one of them hanging (neither enjoying marriage, nor left to marry someone else). If you correct this situation and maintain righteousness, GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful." (Quran 4:129).
Emphasis one you wont be able to treate them equal, 'You can never be equitable'!! how is that encouraging??

+chili,
The situation in places like China and India is man made. Since they can only have 1 kid, if it turns out to be a girl they abort it.

No other option walaal.
That is my choice.....I will rather stay alone...
kambuli,
Abaayadiis, I have total respect for your position. Waad aqoonsatay inuu xalaal yahay and yet you said that personally it is not for you.
It is xalaal for me not to like strawberries, but it is xalaal. That is a choice you have and waxee ka mid tahay one of the shuruud you can have on your husband that you require a divorce if he gets married again.
The problem I have is when women try to make something that can have khayr in it with barakah and try to convince you that what you are doing is immoral or that you are a pervert. I totally reject that!

+chili,
Pagan Arabian practices or not, it is in God's wisdom why something is xalaal or xaraam. I don't question why I can't wear gold, why you don't have to pray during RedWeek, etc. This is in God's wisdom.
You are saying "Guys control yourselves" and even went as far as to call Somalis backwards b/c they practice that religion while men in other parts of the world openly have affairs, mistresses, "as$ on the side" and you are asking us to abandon a practice that could conceivably give many women more equitable rights as wives to do a practice which breaks up a home anyways, doesn't give the other women or her illegitimate child her own rights.
So tell us what part of the world you would like us to follow where men control themselves? See, maybe God knows more than us about our OWN limitations.
here's a question for you. One of the signs of Yawm al Qiyama is that men will outnumber men 50:1. This will undoubtedly happen gradually b/c there's no way you're gonna wake up 1 day and find odds of 50:1.
So if things look like they're headed in that direction, would you still be going for 1:1 pairings. What are the odds that YOU yourself would be married?

Re: The Plight of Garoobs...The Evil of Women
+Chilli, Gedo mentioned some facts about some somali men. They prey on the weak among the divorced women.
As for polygamy and men, there is no man who wouldn't entertain the idea of more than one wife at some point in their life. The one who doesn't go for it, approves when a friend of his does and wishes he was the one. You sweet girls need to live with that fact. Your hubby can put you to sleep every night swearing you are the one, but in reality, as soon he walks out the door in the morning and his eye catches an attractive sister, he may be biting his lips at the passing opportunity.

Hi bro, nothing works better than a soft stroke on Chilli's hair/Ego. She is feisty little girl. Waa la sasabaa noh koow, ka bacdina hilfahaa loo laabaa. This is just me introducing myself gently.
Besides, this is touchy subject for all women. They can't share their men. The most religious among them still gets riled up about polygamy.
I knew you were smart. You can get away with murder

Re: The Plight of Garoobs...The Evil of Women
^^ I see what you're saying....why get caught in the crossfire prematurely
Personally, like you said it's a xalaal fantasy in the sense that it's not likely to ever happen but kawaran they even wanna strip us of our dreams
What I've learned is that although ALL women exhibit some jealousy, it seems like there are 2 types of women and some caught in between the 2 extremes:
1. The type that doesn't get into the ethical/moral aspects of it and sees it as xalaal but doesn't want anything to do with it. They say: "I have no problem with it, but I don't want it to happen to me". These women are exercising their right and I respect their sensitivities.
2. The type that abhor and detest such practice and call a responsible man w/ 2 wives a pervert. They want to equate polygamy with exploitation, FGM & the child sex trade. This group really aggravates me b/c something that is made xaraam should NEVER be made to look clean and something that is xalaal should NEVER be made to look filthy or despicable. When God says things are xalaal He makes the decision that it's clean/pure and when he says things are xaraam He makes the decision that things are impure/filthy.
Why the 2nd part of my title says: "...The Evil of Women" is that if most women were subconsciously give the choice to pretend to be unaware of her man sleeping around w/ all sorts of women or to be cognizant of a 2nd wife in the picture, they would much rather the man be sleeping around and coming home to JUST 1 wife. I think this is an intrinsic evil in women b/c they are preferring the xaraam over the xalaal due to their egos/pride or something I'm not quite sure of. This has the disastrous effect of eroding the fabric of society through out of wedlock births, diseases, paternal ambiguity, lack of women's rights to the mistresses etc. Not to mention the violence associated with love triangles.
But they don't seem to care about that. Women don't care about the plight of 'the other women' because they hope never to be that one. Even when they are 'the other women' they are trying to steal the man to get out of that state. Basically, it's a brutal capitalistic system.
A women or mistress on the side can be dismissed as a prostitute, love, whoore whereas another wife would appear to be an equal to her. It is this equality they are subconsciously against which also encourages illicit sexual activity. How easy on the ears is 'mistress'.....sounds mysterious even. Polygamy is made to sound like a perversion.

Damn! SAXIB, Gedo-Boy, note how I made "saxib" into a capital
Let me see who counters this solid reasoning and classification of yours.
As time goes by, more and more women will see the wisdom behind polygamy
If they just co-operated, it would be a lot easier LOL.
