Klashnekov,

Yes.

Education is to open children's minds to all possibilities.

We are evolving as we TYPE! Traces in the human genome show a major shift in our genes -- an evolution already taking place as it has been for the last 4 billion years of our history.

Genome researchers at the University of Chicago have identified more than 700 regions in human DNA where apparently strong selection has occurred, driving the spread of genes linked to a broad range of characteristics.
Many of the genetic changes Pritchard's group detected came during or after the emergence of agriculture, beginning about 10,000 years ago, and long after the formation of modern human populations
Read both pages. Great stuff with SCIENTIFIC backing!

More to come!

Anyone who produces a scientific back up to darwin's theory isn't a muslim and therefore i can't do that as i don't believe in his theory, however there is nothing wrong with being aware of it's existence.

chimpanzees have 24 pairs of chromosomes and humans have 23 pairs,

if we were from apes then we would hav had the same chromosomes

Should somali schools teach evolution?

YES

~ Because Allah tells you to seek knowledge wherever it comes from. Learning about such theories will only make your Imaan stronger and although Darwinian concepts can be a little off...not all elements of the evolutionary theory is wrong.

In any case, learning is not shirk. Living in ignorance and never being able to challenge such theories on a scientific level is much much worse. I hope some of you never become decision makers in Somalia....ever!!!

if there was any scientific evidence the athiest would have brought it forth. but they cant.

if if there was even one single evidence it would not be named "darwins evolution theory" but it would changed to "darwins evolution law"

What purpose does learning it serve when its not even a fact? Do we teach our kids so that they become evolution scientists? Btw, why would you want something that mocks the creation of Allah to be taught in a Muslim country?

exactly!!

tell em' huuno....Darwin, though very advanced for his time, is as flawed as his theory..to which he admits as he cannot prove his claims factually.

--------------------------------------
"A fair result can be obtained only by fully stating and
balancing the facts and arguments on both sides of each question; and
this is here impossible." (Darwin, 1872, p18)"

"Long before the reader has arrived at this part of my work, a crowd
of difficulties will have occurred to him. Some of them are so
serious that to this day I can hardly reflect on them without being
in some degree staggered; but, to the best of my judgment, the
greater number are only apparent, and those that are real are not, I
think, fatal to the theory." (Darwin, 1872, p156)"

I agree with you there Boqor Darood... All i'm saying is, this is something which a lot of westerners believe in and since we live in the west (well most of us) we should atleast know about it.

Knowledge is the key....

Atleast if you know what darwin's theory is you can counteract, if you don't how would you possible put forward your ideas?

We've all been taught the theory about evolution, did that make us Non-Believers? NO!

Koronto, they don't have to become an evolutionary scientist. I think it is wrong censor texts or to give anyone the power to determine what is and isn't beneficial.

I think if you let children learn about such things and also teach them the Islamic perspective...they'll grow up as confident believers stong in faith. If you shelter them from it and they find out later on as ignorant adults, they're more likely to be confused and not so strong in faith. Whatever the case, I am a seeker of knowledge and I would want my children to be the same. There is no harm in it.
