Cyprus is different; it doesn't involve rebel groups. It involves Greece, an official member of the EU and NATO.NoAngst. wrote:How can it be the strongest muslim country when its secular army is struggling against the Kurdish rebels?
They're not struggling with 'em at all. They're hamstrung by the hypocritical international community, in particular the EU, which demands of Turkey to show "restraint" and to lighten up on the military and try more diplomacy... all this a precondition for accepting Turkey into the EU. We saw what the "secular" Turkish military is capable of in Cyprus. But all this is academic debate in 2008. The PKA or whatever the Kurdish terrorist group were called are all but done and dusted.
Secularism is a system designed by the West for Muslims. Its primary function is to weaken Muslims and make them followers of the West.I believe secularism has weakened the Turkish society and its army.
What's with you and your fixation with secularism? Anyways, I like you to explain in more detail why and how secularism made Turkish society weaker.
It got little to do with being smarter. Simply put, America, the EU and NATO will not allow Turkey to build nuclear weapons. If Turkey attempts that, it will be invaded and occupied.Islamic Iran is developing and making nuclear warheads, while the West has banned secular Turkey from developing/making it.
Turkey is being smarter though... they're building the industrial foundation which in the future will enable Turkey to build nuclear weapons in as little as few weeks to few months.
Always take the path of least resistance.
GDP means little or nothing. For example, America may have the largest GDP in the world, but most everyone knows it's a poor, underdeveloped with ancient infrastructure and bankrupt country. Are you saying this country (Turkey):I also don't think it's the richest Muslim country (per capita or non).
I think it's OFFICIAL. They have the largest GDP which is something like 920 billion +.

Is richer than this one (Dubai)?

Whether it involved rebel groups or not is neither here nor there. I gave detailed reply of why Turkey doesn't have a free hand in dealing with the Kurdish terrorists. Do you disagree with me? If so, why?AbuShabab wrote:Cyprus is different; it doesn't involve rebel groups. I'm curious are you reading from a list? It seems every time you reply, your replies sound stilted, predigested... as if you have a talking point in frong of you that you reply from.I believe secularism has weakened the Turkish society and its army.

I would advice you to revise your talking points. It's true Secularism was "designed" by the West but not for muslims as you allege. This is not even controversial, it's straight forward history.
And address my comment in quotation.

I don't follow how you reached the conclusion that EU and NATO will invade and occupy Turkey but if that was the case, Turkey is doing the right thing by keeping low profile. Being the weaker side, Turkey gains nothing from confronting stronger adversaries... it pays to bide your time and strike out when you're in a stronger position. This is the strategy China pursued since the founding PRC and it worked wonders.
Why does GDP mean "little or nothing?" You make bold pronouncements without even an ounce of humility by providing some rationale explaining how your reached your views... you just can't make claims without explanations.I also don't think it's the richest Muslim country (per capita or non).
