So basically you are saying that his power hunger was bounderless as he even wanted to be on the ruling seat while critically sick?

The man could not differentiate what was his personal property and what state property, for example: the country was not his personal property, and he could not wish to die while sitting on the ruling seat. He was on the ruling seat to serve the Somali people, and not for the Somali person to serve him till he dies on the ruling seat!

Enough was apparently not enough for him.

Xamud,

Dont turn around the issue.

We are talking about Siad Barre, dont go to other subject.

Answer this:

Was he not a brutal dictator who did not want to hand over political power?

Yes he became brutal after being provoked by countless rebel factions, and he did kill many people. He also refused too give the seat up, too the same people who later destroyed the nation. Nevertheless he left Mogadishu intact.

Now can you answer my question?

MSB was one of the worst dictators somalia has ever produced! his Ugly name has gone down in history as the "Destroyer of somali nation" by establishing a clanno-cracy in our beloved country.!
he was a man of enourmous tribalism, selfishness and believed in the supremacy of his race"daarood".!
he was a ruthless criminal in the sense that he ordered the merciless massacre of certain clans who opposed his absolute statism.!
His rule of somalia for 21 years can be best described as the "Reign of Terror"! The day the Fascist took power was the day somalis lost hope and opportunity for better life.!
it is stated that he once said " I came to power with a gun; only the gun can make me go"! that statement shows the filthy mentality of the MSB and how he worshipped unrestricted power.!
as i dictator,he ruled without the consent of those he governed and regulated nearly every aspect of the puplic and private behavior of the people.!
Finally,it can be safely said that, calling MSB a president is an injurious Insult to all the distinguished somali presidents who ruled before him.!

when the jahannama started to flood towards Somalia in 1980's, due to some unreasonble clan revolts, mainly the isaaq's obsession with independense, majeerteen's obsesion with their democratic term interrupted by siyad, and the hawiye's obsession with the darod-rule,Siad barre was faced by a bitter dilemma. had he left that way, the floodling would wreck havoc,he would have not been blamed but it would be cowardly to do so, and Siyad he was, he never even thought of that option, so went on and on the old man, he tried his best but to no avail. the flood just proved to be unpreventable. Alla ultimo, the brave old man was flooded into the sea.

anyone who wants to say the isaaq, the hawiye, the majeerteen were correct in toppling the government needs his ego examined.such a person will find it had to understand why the warsangalis of this world want to form a State called Maakhir, why the Majerteens of this world are collaborating with the tigre to rule, why the ayrs of this world are obsessed with maxkamado, why the sacads of this world want to establish a State called Galmudugh and so forth.

Silly dancing around the issue.

He had the chance to build genuine political institutions that would safeguard the peacefull transfer of political power, instead of that he wasted energy and money on personal glorification and silly ''Aabe Siyaad'' Propaganda.

Also, not the rebel movements were the cause of the destruction of the country, but just the sympthons of it. It was Barre's regime that destroyed the military, economy and political entity of Somalia.

Who or what destroyed a particular city is not even part of the discussion of barre's regime. We are talking about who brought Somalia to its knees economically, politically, militarily and socially. And it was none other then Barre's opressive regime. Can this be refuted? Certainly not.

Some people find it hard to swallow the truth, but i will give credit where credit is due.!
we must be pragmatic and see the fact that MSB was a certified power hungry clown whith no clear vision for the people he unlawfully governed.!

Dhageysta ilmo Hawiye kuni kuni......

Siyaad is dead and he was indeed the MAN who put Somalia on the map and believe me when he left it disappeared from the map.....

Stop this focking internet quotes and shiid. Its been 18 years since Siyad's rule and show us what you "Hawiye" can do for the country beside kufsi of 95 year old grandma and robbing defenseless people.

The question should have been "What have you guys done after kicking him out?"

And please leave this man to rest in peace.

It would be better for your group to stop worshipping him and let the man just rest in peace.

Its simple: ACTION-----REACTION.

Still no answer, I posed a simple question, surly a "smart" lad like you shouldent have issues with answering it. Leders have allways abused their amount of power, and the people have allways created rebel fanctions, and toppled them. But in Somalias case, certain groups decided too take the matters in their own hands, and so they did by going on a killing spree. Siyaad barre playe his part in destroying somalia as a nation, but he did not play a part in destroying our image as people. He did not wreck the Capital(The head of Somalia) he did not sell historical pieces. Its fun how you call yourself Somaliweyn, when your supporting the destruction of Somalia, by supporting terrorist groups such as Al-shabab. Dont give me the "I want ethiopians and their lackeys out of the country" Bullshidh, they killed a guy for speaking out against them for crying out loud.

Lemme Pose another question(not that you will answer it) What do you plan to do after the ethiopians leave? what is your goal for the people who suffer on a daily base? go back too setting up isbaaros in every corn? perhaps form a "Takhfiir" goverment and wage war on everyone who dares too differ?

Amazing twist of conversation!

So Xamud,

Yes, many actors partook in the destruction of Somalia. Barre's regime had brought Somalia to its knees and destroyed the Republic of Somalia, but certainly the rebel movements that took over the capital city and the rest of the country failed miserably to create a new republic. Thats their mistake and they are responsible for that. No one with a sane mind would argue otherwise.

Now, from your above post I can hint that you are against the resistance movement, whether they go by the name of alshabab, icu, khalid brigade or what have we these days?

Are you pro resistance movement or pro puppet regime?
