When we were kings?

People love to live in dreamland.


Another thing, why do people say: ''I prefer the dictatorial rule of Barre over the anarcy and civil war''.

If they want to compare, I would say: ''I prefer the SYL-government over the dictatorial rule of Barre.''

I would chose any day to live in the period of President Aden Adde or Sharmarke over the dictatorial period.At least we then had parlamentary democracy (not a perfect one but it was aight), we had free press, our basic freedoms were protected, the state was not oppressive, the national army did not hunt its own civilians, the land was united, everybody was doing well. There was some corruption or mismanagment but that was 10 times better then the corruption, nepotism, clannism and brutal oppression of Barre's regime.

^ Somaliweyn, do you think Somalia would have had better infrastructure had the land not been nationalised?

Infrastructure should be provided by the government. Or construction firms that is paid by the government.

Nationalization did harm the Somali economy since it crippled private entreprise.

im glad you are here to state your opinion God knows if it had not been for MSB(aun) where you would have been, but you have clearly not done your homework!

a country that has a literacy rate below 10% obviously does not have the capacity to pint point the mistakes of their government, do you know scholarship to university were handed out to certain students who were from rer hebel or had some affiliation to rer hebel?


the biggest crime of those two so called president before THE president Maxamed Siad Barre(aun), was that they failed to involve the nation instead they had a nation of illiterate nomads and camels thus kept the nation for themselves

now you see MSB(aun) had a nation of SOMALI lawyers, Doctors, journalist etc so he was under WATCH 24/7 by his population, and him and his population achieved great things unlike those two men you choose as your role model.

SP-Land and all somalis should pay tribute to the man who educated the bafoons that are now their presidents and ministers.

sometimes i wish MSB(aun) would have done the same thing and left some tribes in the gutter, because they clearly dont show tribute

The '60s Gov'ts Whether it was Aaden Cadde aun or others they were weak leaders who Had no real control over State recourses and could only helplessly watch as a few induviduals benefitted and stole everything. MSB aun a dictator He was but a benevolent one at that. His dicatorship produced fruits that Soomalis are still benefitting from to this day. The soap, water factories in Burco today would not have been possible without His investment. The North South road, and roads connecting Issaq/Majerteen/Hawiye regions today which make business and life for Southerners are still used. Contrast that with His 'clan's' lands being outside that road, and to this day economically sidlined from the action. You on the other hand are just a pathetic little figure, who looks at Caydiid aun as a "Hero" yet criticize a Man who Yes did do bad things, but Had good to redeem it, while the former Had zero contribution to Soomalis prior success and a massive role in their downfall.

they dont know they are self hating when they are hating on their former president (aun), i dont blame them, they were subjected to brainwashing over a long period of time its just sad for them and the development of todays Somalia, that after education they are still stuck in this primitive way of thinking

i hope in the end, people like Hyper, Fah, Zingii etc etc outnumber these backward parasites, so we can do something for our nation

As a fellow isaaq member, i certainly have no love for siad baare. But you cant deny the achievements he made for the country. Back then somalis were no stinkin refugees like today. We had a country and we were the pride of east africa. I remember my father (aun) coming back from russia after his education eager to ply his trade in his country and serve it. Wallahi as somalis we were blessed back then. Back then everyone saw each other as somalis and not as habel hawiye or darrod or issaq etc.

Back then our passport meant something. We had foreign tourists who visited our beautiful beaches. We were part of the civilised world. Until one day some people decided to play clan politics and as a result destroyed the country we all loved.

wallahi i would give up almost anything to see my country as it was back then. i cry everytime i see moqadisho and other somali cities before the civil war.

We were blessed brothers and sisters. Allah gave us alot of blessings. Instead of saying alhamdulilah, some somalis decided to go for broke.

With cuban troops and soviet support the ethiopians drove the somalians out of the Ogaden



Siad Barre made a big mistake he trusted Jimmy Carter,and Carter betrayed him and the somali people.And then Russia and Cuba betrayed the somalis.After that defeat Somalia began its path to the destruction.
