Dhaga,

Are they able to grow Qamandi up there ? I am upset at how little of our food we grow as Somalis and the few we grow, we insult.

May Allah continue to bless us with the Cambuulo

Horta, Somalis aren't very 'imaginative' with their food are they?

What do they only do Cambuulo iyo Bariis mise with Galey? :? :?

They should go adventurous with it;

No I don't think qamadi grows in Somaliland. It could though but they don't.

They grow a lot of beans these days and qare/xab xab is every where.

Mango is getting up there but no matter what they do, it never gets bigger than tamatoes. I don't know why.

We have guava....that gows like gatbage every where and we stil have grow and arabikhi/galay out west!

Agriculture is the most under developed part of somalia. The more remittance us western folks send back, the less motivation they have back home to grow food and the more they import all foods, hence ensuring all those dollars leave somalia.

As you said the few who grow food are insulted as being reer miyi, backwards and badow.

Funny thing, the richest men in somaliland are ina omar, ismail dheero and ina dini. These 3 import food and khat, stuff we should be growing and as a result are rich on a different level.

Nobleman,

The sky high food prices changed that and it was the farmers who had the last laugh.

Dhaga,

To grow mangos, you need a special kind of soil, lots of rain and patience.

True, but when i went back i was suprised at the few people who grew food, i understand lack of rain, but then all they need to do is invest in irigation.

richest guys in somalia are those that import food and khat.

Has muufo always been part of Somali food? If not who did they get it from?

Because ^^^ that there is the best Somali food, with maraq, it is Le Magnifique. :D

right about now, I seem like a fatty
.

-People grow it in South Somalia, they have farms and some in Mogadishu have personal gardens where they grow few foods. Like in my grandmothers house, they used to grow; Lime, Zaytun (Guava)....even my sister grew Tomatoes-

Warsan,

At my aroos, there will be no wedding cake, just mountains of Cambuulo. Instead of feeding each other wedding cake, its a wooden spoonful of cambuulo and drinking some caano :D
