How the hell are you going to obtain concubines in this day and age? It doesn't happen, its an outdated practice.

Sure, its permissible in times of war when a Muslim state was overrunning non-Muslim areas, but none of that shid is happening now.

This is similar to slavery, which isn't outright banned in Islam but looked down on. Concubines were war booty, and if there was an Islamic war now, concubines probably would be acceptable. But right now we are not allowed to have slaves nor concubines.

Do you even understand how the phrase "mulk al-yamiin" came in to existence? It came about as a direct result of fighters in Jihaad capturing these women with their own hands, this was how it was done. Meaning you had to be a Mujaahid in battle, away from his wife & family, facing an unknown fate - this was one of the things they obtained along with whatever other war booty there was. This mostly happened during Jihaad away from Muslim lands and these men were allowed to be intimate with these women to discourage zina & fawahishaat. So, instead they were told that they could keep these women, provided they took care of them, showed them kindness and responsibility. It meant they could not swap these women with their buddies, or sell them. The tradition of gifting to elites is a misuse of this practice. Yes, gifting used to happen, but only to another fighter or a commander in the Mujaahideen army. Never to a man who sat on his ass while everyone else risked their neck for Jihaad. Just because some perverted Arabs did this with the Ummayad empire like Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah who never went to Jihaad and was said to keep a harem of young girls does not mean its acceptable.

Its not practical in today's environment, not to mention the millions of Muslim women who deserve a halaal marriage and husband.

I see where you're coming from, taking women as sex slaves is abominable. However to be objective I think you should look at the context, this was at a time and in a society where war was frequent and the taking of slaves was the norm, when those slaves are women, the sex part isn't much of a stretch. And as someone on this thread pointed out, these rules were made to protect the women taken as slaves, the Muslims were to treat them better than any slaves were treated at the time and then encouraged to set them free. I see that as a pragmatic solution to a problem.

On a different note most of the guys on this thread are disgusting creatures. Seems the only way most of you are gonna get some is if you get a slave, weak.
