To those who support the mawlid: What better way is there to honour our prophet saws than to follow his Sunnah? Our prophet saws did not even like people standing up when he came in the room. If the mawlid was a blessed event, he would've made it an Islamic holiday. Our prophet saws would not hide goodness from us.

The reason why Mawlid isn't an Islamic holiday is because Mawlid should be every day. We should be honoring and celebrating our prophet every day, by living in his memory and following his sunnah.

shirib, u have a valid point. I think a very small percentage of Somalis celebrate mowlid. I know muslims do not celebrate christmas.

Shirib, okay when I asked that question about half an hour ago....I was thinking about how Nabbi Muhammed (SCW) is much much greater than the rest of the Nabbis....laakiin, I have talked to a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable about the religion...and Alxamdulilah this person proofed me wrong by telling me every Nabbi was unique each in their own way...Nabbi Muhammed (SCW) was the last prophet to carry the message to the people, Nabi Ciise nolol baa lagu afuufay aabbo la'aan (if Im saying it right lol), etc etc....so basically, again, when I asked that question...I was thinking Nabbi Muhammed was GREATER....which is not the case...he was unique just like the rest...according to my friend

But I have a queston....and I can't ask my friend now....wasn't Nabbi Muhammed's (SCW) heart taken out to make it pure and clean...N returned to his body, thus making him far more noble than the rest???? N if that is the case, shouldn't we celebrate him

Nabi Muhammad was the best of mankind. However its not good inaa nabiyaasha la kala saaro. They were all great, and we should love and adore all of them. We shouldn't say oh Muhammad is better than Isa, Isa is better than Musa, etc.

I believe that story to be true. But it is says that there have only been three people who never comitted sin. One of them is our nabi Muhammad saw. The other two are Isa AS, and his mother Maryama.

Olive I see where your going and correct me if I'm wrong, your trying to say; Because of Nabi Muhammed's (saws) lofty status as the greatest of the Messengers, shouldn't we honor him and the blessed day he entered this world. I agree with you, it is the day that light of which had never been seen before entered this world and illuminated it, it is said that everywhere in the world saw a flash of light, or a shaking of the ground, or some kind of occurrence at that moment. And there is none except Allah that deserves honoring like Muhammad saws the most beloved of Allah.

Plus this issue does not divide people into sects, it's just ikhtilaaf within the ummah. I'm in the opinion that anyone who does it recieves ajar, and anyone who doesn't recieves no dembi, and everything is decided on Intention.

No we shouldn't. If it was a really great thing, he would have told us to do it. The saxaaba would have celebrated it. But the fact is mowliids routes come from Christmas. That's exactly where the origins are. If u ask any Muslim can we celebrate Christmas they would say no. So why would u allow Mowliid? Why is Muhammads birthday halaal and Isa's haraam?

This is not even an Issue that has been up for debate for centries, it is an accepted practice in the ummah by a great deal of muslims, I suggest you guys respect the noble intentions of your brothers and sisters, accept them even if you don't agree with them.

Do you need evidence to read quran, hadith and biography of prophet pbuh, senting salawat while fasting on day day?

Maybe the wahabis should bring proof that it is haram to read quran....and fasting on that day!

With all due respect, i think the mawlid only began to be celeberated in the 4th or 5th century after Hijrah. The first 3 generations+ the 4 imams and their disciples did not celebrate this day. Mawlid is a practice of the khalaf and not the salaf. The question is, do we follow earlier or latter generations? Mind you, it was the khalaf that caused fitnah about Allah's nature, where you had some of them suggesting that Allah is a man in the sky with bodily hands, while the others simply rejected Allah's attributes.

While you might criticize salafis for ignoring tradition, the fact of the matter is that our tradition is full of deviancy (read the history yourself). We should not blindfollow men who came 6 and 7 generations after our nabi saws died.

Stick to the ijma of the salaf, the sahabah and what is found in the Quran and the prophetic sayings. You will not find mawlid in any of these sources.

Just don't prescribe as an Islamic holiday and an official religious celebration. That is the problem here.
