Al Shabaab is broken. Their leadership is extremely fractured. Its not gonna be like 2007 unless the TFG allows it to be.

The game is in TFG's hands now, its their to win it. Lets see what they do

yap sxb if TFG screw pple will back alshabab but i have a feeling TFG wont screw this time...they know alshabab are screwed coz they keep loosing the pple's credibility and if they do the same they will be finished

The entire Ahlul Sunna rebel forces need to be trained and incorporated into the army. Mogadishu will become the undisputed power in Somalia Insh'Allah

Ethiopia and majerteen openly advocated a federal system (a system of strong autonomous regions) we need to face these enemies. Mogadishu must subdue Garowe.

This is great news and indeed a window of opportunity for the TFG, if they continue to fall back on factionalism and corruption at the expense of the people Alshabab will creep back.Al-shabab is weak and divided, the TFG should take the focus away from Mogadishu and pressure Al-shabab in there regional hide-outs in Gedo,Jubboyinka,Hiiraan,Bay/Bakool,etc by aiding the TFG aligned forces there.

This is a very emostional time for Somaliweyn!!!

Somali president calls for harvesting "fruits of peace"

Mogadishu - Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed promised his forces would restore law and order to Mogadishu, after al-Shabaab militants retreated from the capital in the early hours of Saturday following hours of fighting.

'It is time to harvest the fruits of peace,' he told a press conference at his heavily fortified palace.

The president - himself once a member of an Islamic group that had controlled parts of the country in the past - called on citizens to inform the governmental authorities of any Islamist activity or militants hiding in the capital.

The prime minister confirmed that the city was under the control of the weak central government, for the first time in years.

'We confirm today that Mogadishu is under the full control of the Somali government and we will continue to eradicate al-Shabaab in all regions of Somalia,' Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, the premier, told reporters.

It is the best news I have heard in years and it really points to the weakened state of Shabaab. No matter what excuses they give, Al Shabaab has seen climax and now is witnessing exponential decline. This isn't during 2006 Ethiopian invasion when they came in as national liberators with a clean slate. They are now a sullied rag-tag band of oppressors who are being challenged from Galgaduud in the north, in the West, the South, and has been forced to do the unthinkable which is to vacate Mogadishu to the AMISOM troops. From now on, they might give some resistance, but at the end of the day they now realize they have no future as a potent conventional force in Somalia and will find great difficulty in being a guerrilla force with such a hostile population facing them. This is the beginning of the end for their reign of terror.

Indeed, this is what I call liberation!!! A New Era is taking shape in Somalia today and Al Shabaab shall become History soon. They have lost because they have lost the support of the local population whom they have relied on for years. They have been rejected and have no way of ever returning!!!
