Most villas in xamar won't go over 15-20k, even the best ones. So there's no point in selling it now, you might as well just keep it and see what happens to the place.

rent your property out, there's a lot of folks there with money but they have no idea what to do with it... not to mention aid agencies...

and mckus, one of my family's villas was valued at $100,000... not much, but not too bad

I have a hard time believing that. I have been told that even the best 2-level villas with lots of land in Mogadishu are only valued around 15 to 20k.

Murax,

Garbage saxiib.

From the photos, Voltage's cousins place is in the K-4 area, near Maka Al Mukarama. This is one of the most sought out after areas in Xamar. A small investment in fixing the villa up will allow it to be sold for a tidy sum.

Someone wanted to buy a small old house in Bar Ubax for $150,000 several years ago and we built and bought the land in 1985 for one tenth that.

Even the nicest villas in peaceful regions like Bosaso and Hargeisa are 50k-75k tops. You have to remember that the average annual income in those places is less than 2k (most of which is spent on food) so there's almost no local demand.

MckUus,

A plot of land in Xamar costs more than $15,000. Shid, there are plots in Ceelasha Biyaha going for over $100,000.

^Hot air..anyone paying those amounts is getting ripped off.

I have been told that the best villas of Mogadishu are in the 15-20k range. Plots of land are only a few hundred dollars. This makes perfect sense considering the horrible economic conditions of Mogadishu.

That's not how the economy works. Housing prices are controlled by the basic law of supply and demand. There is practically no local demand in Mogadishu, a handful of outliers don't have much influence at all.

Fah why are you arguing with an anonymous kid on the web when you have your grandfather's deed and records?

Murax at some point the war will end and speculation will drive a lot of people rich. The family members who convinced your dad to wait off saved him a tidy sum.
