Voltage, so you're saying Grandpa is not aware that calling people Kaafir unjustly isn't acceptable? what would rather see done? let him have his thread, everybody have their say and allow the name calling and the character assassination of forumers?

I can see you are clearly frustrated, however generally as a moderator you should be able to separate your moderating duties from your general contributions to the forum. The privilege have been bestowed on you because of not in spite of your contributions. Now generally you are a very good brother and a valuable contributor but it cannot be denied bias clouds your judgement with respect to GrandpaKhalif and this is ascertained by any one of your interactions with him. Let's moderate fairly is my recommendation here.

1man, and that is what should be made aware to Grandpa, not simply censoring him and letting him be off on his merry good way.
Yes, I'm very frustrated trying to understand the way your brain works. Of course I can't stand grandpakhalif, I'll be the first to tell u that...the kid is annoying as hell and makes me cringe everytime he posts...what does that have to do with me deleting a thread of his where he started listing all the people he considers murtads, a thread any mod would delete if any member made? Or am I not supposed to delete his threads no matter what just cuz I don't like him? Do u even read what u write? If I wanted to moderate based on how I feel about people, I'd delete everything he writes and everything most people here write too.

1man-

Admittedly, I am a little protective of Grandpa. He is a young brother, highly articulate, very well educated but some of his political views leave me with concern. Then what should be the case done? That a younger Somali brother of that intellectual caliber is that heavily affected by tribal malice as well as extremist religious stained political movements is a blight on our Somali society and one we had recently learned is a dangerous shadow sub-culture of our larger culture. Should we attempt to censor Grandpa? Make it harder for him to defuse some of the negative qualities he expresses in this more peaceful setting?

My solution is give them the space to express themselves. This not only helps defuse the constraining internal negative attributes in a peaceful setting but it also allows for positive feedback and important discourse to ensue from a majority of young Somali individuals around the world who do not subscribe to such attributes.

Censoring him isn't the solution, taking his views head on is.

Yung, clearly you are upset. I beg of you to recollect yourself brother; I am one of your greatest fans in this forum.

The fight was going smoothly as a 1-1 between grandpa and young, with young in the lead, but Cinque came to the aid of young when he didn’t need it leaving the door open for the sade cavalry to charge in and save the day. Now Voltage is raising doubt about youngs competence as a moderator which has absolutely infuriated young while 1nemansquad is trying to engage Voltage in a side debate about the merits of online censorship. The fight goes on.

Voltage, how caring of you; still i disagree, almost everyone engages Grandpa regarding his extremism views me in particular, its not defused, nobody tries to shut him up and you couldn't even if you wanted to because he is very expressive and quite clear of what he thinks is right. At first when i noticed him around, I thought it was all an act, why i never bothered to respond to him previously but i've noticed a lot forumers trying to reason with him, some ridicule him and laugh at him also but he always comes out swinging and standing up for what he believes in (that is all fair)

you want to help him, that is very admirable, but can't do it by allowing him to label people as Kaafirs, you're not doing him any favors by doing that, you causing him more harm

I think the Calvary were a hilarious addition, and needed since the 1-1 was getting repeativtive. I especially like how Voltage in a very articulate and subtle way teased young with "u mad brah" which caused young to just go off on some blithering rant which caused voltage to respond with "I understand you're very frustrated"
