Wallahi I swear in Allah's name, your sick and twisted. Its disgusting how you attack and bring hate into this thread. Showing envious traits and self-fish attitude. Your consumed with hate and xasad. May Allah purify your heart amiin.
Regarding your stupid argument, General Daud was the minister of Defence (Gaashandiga) and his wife was Majerteen (Abdirashid tribe). He was the leader of the defence of Somalia for few years. He has no airforce skillls but efentry (military). Despite that he was the leader of Somali defence, so airforce, navy force and military force comes under his role. However the Airforce commander/leader and the first Somali to succeed their training and become a pilot was Ali Matan whom trained in Soviet Union and Italy, and he also became the first to fly a plane (known as Matan Hashi airways). He took part in building up the Somali airforce, he helped out many and taught them alot. (you can get his history in one of the somali airfoce history book in italian.
General Daud died around 1966, in russia or italy i can't remember which, people rumored that he got poisoned, he wasn't liked by the patriotic Somalis, they saw him as incompetent and useless. Which to General Siyaad Barre took over his role, whom had military skills that nobody had and was most experienced (took part in many ethio war) siad barre was young and had strong character (lion). Despite many people in the corrupt government fearing Siyad Barre's take over, people like Maxamed Cabdirashid Hamaan cussed and cursed the president cabdirashid for making Siyad Barre the leader of defence, seeing that many of the intellectuals and skilled people all hailed from the same tribe as Siyad Barre, they feared a cohesion between elite people of Siyad Barre's clan and himself (defence leader), further on they feared a revolution (which did happen).
Wallahi i suggest you should learn your history, there so much you don't know. Turning a blind eye and ignoring the truth won't make your clan what you want them to be, because SOMALI WEY IIS TAQAAN!

Ximan, what in the world does the late General Da'ud (AUN) have to do with the topic? Gen Da'ud was the Commander of the armed forces while Cali Mataan was the commander of the air force. Somalia's armed forces is divided into the army, the police, the air force, and the marines. Those are two positions that have nothing to do with each other so be wise about obvious attempts at red herring.

I have only mentioned Daud because Roving is mentioning him here for no reason. He has nothing to do with the Somali Air Corps. I don't get why he is mentioning him

Kind of sad to see our success in the 50s,60s,70s and then turn on the tv or read the news and see the situation of Somalia today. We had a respectable air force 50 years ago, and today maxaan haysana? almost like we have been trown back in time.

did u say he wass poisoned? by who?XimanJaale wrote:General Daud has no nuxur in somali history.
Gen Daud is one of the most popular figures in recent Somali history. On the hand, I've never heard of the other dude before this thread. That generation you call heroes and the ones before them failed us big time. They let their country get invaded and colonized by men from faraway Europe. That's what happens when you eat, I mean graze with camels and donkeys from generation to generation. Fast forward 2011, we cannot produce a needle and the best gift you can give to someone in Somalia is a ticket out, no matter which destination. We have been gang raping our country for so long and here we are still fighting each other with keyboards.
click here to see your real picture. That's what happens to people who hate their own.
