Problems is Somalis Can't have a balanced view on things Waryaa saaxib Yes Caydiid Killed People but which Somali leader didn't kill Somalis i believe Caydiid is the most misunderstood Somali leader of the 20 century he had a vision on how he wanted to govern The Somali republic but due to many factors and Factions it became impossible but he was a brave man and had Courage we can honestly say General Maxammad farax caydiid was not a lackey or a puppet.

The problem was not Aideed, or Somali national ethos, or Siad Barre!
The problem was that the Somali rebels due to different reasons achieved "victory" very quick!
Their leaders havent yet sorted out their differences, fought and solved their intra problems and they didnt come to the city with unified command!

TPLFites fought each other, Eretreans fought each other like there is no tomorrow ...during their rebellion in their desert!
The ones that survived or better said the winners were united well discilipined after victory.

Imagine TPLF controling Mekele or Addis in end 1970s they would have killed each other worse than somalis!
Imagine EPLF and ELF investing Asmara in mid 1970s, there would have been civil war worse than somalia!

Although somali nations specific character gave its civil war peculiar flavour, the objective situation on the ground was ready or even implying civil war!

Waryaa,

The Presidency was never going to be easy to acquire. Aideed faced an incumbent who refused to go into exile. He then had to deal with an internal opponent who undid alliances and covertly worked with incumbent's supporters. After succeeding in beating the incumbent and the Usurper, he was about the enjoy the sweet victory when in comes the USA and UN. The USA and UN give breathing room to Aideed's enemies who were scattered to the 4 winds. This results in his enemies regaining their strength to fight another day.

So its like on October 22, 1969, MSB and the Coup Plotters faced a rebellion in Central and Northern Somalia from a group of Civilian Government Loyalists. The MSB crew go to war to suppress the loyalists and it drags on for 2 years. Just when it looks like the MSB Crew have won the day, in comes the US & NATO to support the Western leaning Loyalists. The USA and NATO declare the MSB crew as being antipeace and wage war against them in Mogadishu. After MSB survives the war and eludes capture, he now realizes that his enemies are still around but are better armed, financed and well rested. He has to fight them again but with less resources while they have more and importantly the backing of the powerful US & NATO. Cracks appear among the MSB crew and his 2nd in command challenges him.

Now would MSB have succeeded ? I think not.

Aideed was just very unlucky. If there was no UN/US intervention in 1992, the war would have been over by the end of 1993. All parties were very weak and exhausted from the bitter 1991-92 war. This made peace much more agreeable for all parties even Aideed.

It's clear that although Aideed was somewhat successful as a military leader, he was no politician. You just overthrew an entrenched government, you've forced the ex-President and his loyalists into a corner (Gedo), your clan controls almost the entire south after the disintegration of the SNA, and almost all the weapons caches and heavy weaponry left behind by the military falls in your hands, and you decide to not only carry out mass slaughters of civilians (most new regimes would start with b.s. reconciliation efforts to entrench their rule and give them legitimacy), but you also lose your rightful place as the new dictator to some hotel tycoon which sparks an inter-tribal war between your sub clan from Galgaduud and Mudug and the sub-clan that dominates Mogadishu, then start a war in between your own sub clan, culminating with your death at the hands of one of your own child soldiers.

Epic fail wallahi. It's like a guidebook on how not to pull of a coup d'etat.
