People who peddle this progressive Islam b.s. seem to have an underlying belief that the Islam revealed and perfected in the 7th century is inherently defective and "regressive".

Claiming that Islam needs to evolve or "progress" or that we have the power to arbitrarily abrogate parts of Islam we deem archaic runs contrary to the very commandments of the Qur'an. In the 7th century, God sent down a belief system and its laws, and told us this belief system is applicable to all times and places. Why would he send down the Qur'an, Sunnah, and Shari'ah in the 7th century while telling us the religion is perfected and infallible if he meant for 21st century "Muslims" to decide that the supposedly universe laws no longer apply? Is God not omniscient? Could he not foresee 21st century social mores?

You either take Islam as it is, or leave the faith. You cannot corrupt Islam, but unfortunately your b.s. is going to corrupt a bunch of uneducated teens and those with weak iimaans.

I hear ya bro, I have more respect for atheists because these so called "progressive" Muslims won't leave the religion but want to change it.
they are too lazy/ignorant to change their lives around to better themselves as Muslims so they change Islam so it condones their lifestyle, it's that simple.
I am far from being the perfect Muslim but that's my own fault, I'm not going to say it's because Islam is regressive that would be the biggest cop out.
