I personally know a man who was one of the two main gynecologists in Mogadishu (the other was a female) in late 90's and the guy was bloody filthy rich, though that's the least career path I'll ever choose.

^ Didn't use that one. The first one I used was, I think, Kazaa before it went down. Then moved to LW.
Nah. The one I am talking about is alive. He used to work at SOS hospital & had a private clinic at the corner of Hawl-wadaag intersection (Isgoyska Howlwadaag).Cinque Mtume wrote:He got violently killed in the early 90s. AUN.Twist wrote:Gynecology = midwifery? Since when?

Maybe they think certain aspects clash with the diin. Like touching the private area, touching a dead person and being forced to do those things and others I can't think of right now, plus being in a gaalo country you do it or else you lose your job why put yourself in that position. There are many other jobs that can take you away from this situations ukhtii.Nanees wrote:somalis are so weird, how is it ceeb to be a male nurse? its more sharif than being on welfare.

I've a much older brother who was a pediatrics nurse for over 10 years, recently finished anesthesiology.
So, yes, they do exist! No shame in it. I remember during shortages in the early 2000s, he worked with a floating agency and traveled around, making a minimum of $4k/week.

Beside paramedics, I'm also interested in physiotherapy and prosthetics.

You can clearly see I have no understanding of what it means to efficiently research a career path.

Re: Somali Male Nurses
Nurse is perfectly understandable, but midwife? I guess the title of the profession needs some revamping. It's pretty much an on-call nurse, no?
