after all, we know that good fortunes have not changed the unfortunate situations of many Africans. in fact, in many African countries, oil discoveries made lives only worse.
and that's why i am not so joyful about this whole thing. but that's not to say i am against it but i can't surely predict this would change our lives for better.
YOU can keep this words to your self cause we are puntlanders everything can happen by hard work

what is this have to do with Puntland??!!! did you even understood what i wrote???
all i was trying to say is that having natural resources doesn't necessarily improve lives as we have seen in many African countries.
diamonds in sierra leone, massive oil discoveries in Nigeria, cocoas in ivory coast, all sorts of minerals, including rare ones found DR Congo---these naturals which are huge and could sufficiently benefit everyone in respective countries did nothing to improve the lives of its citizens but only made it worse. sierra leone went to brutal civil war because of diamonds; there's a conflict in niger-delta of Nigeria. the list continues...
the lives of the people who live in Niger-delta region, which is the site of the oil production in Nigeria, for example, is worse now than it was before oil was discovered. now, not only are they suffering from huge unemployment but also their livelihoods are gone for good, too. their water sources are contaminated; their lands are gone. they cant farm. they basically have nothing left. i watched a documentary about these people and if you know how things are ran in Africa, you wouldn't be jumping up and down for celebration. is too early to do that but only if you understand the complexity of such explorations.
furthermore, i was only asking the question of: how can you be sure this oil discovery or whatever it might be, doesn't turn out to be a curse!!!???
if your familiar with the landscape of Somalia, Somalia doesn't even need oil to be rich. all it needs is people with working brain. that's it.
