Murax, let us know his first impressions.
Xiinow, yes, somalia o dhan is in a terrible state, and xamar epitomizes that.
OD, Kismaayo is not that much better, it hasn't had the same kind of destruction (alhamdulilah) but that doesn't say much.

I don't understand why certain people are all up in arms as if Moqadhishu was solely theirs, some of you are acting like gurigiinaa la caayey oo qudhun lugu sheegay.

Even if it was your house, and somebody came to you and told you, 80% of your house is destroyed, thugs, rape, crime is rampant, terror attacks, and none of your household is happy or secure, would you put your hands in your hears and say "lalalalalalal, I can't hear you, na-uh you are wrong"?
Hutuking, adigaba alshabab ba tahay in mogadishu oo ka dambayo fitnada dhan, dadka amaan ma siisid?
Geo, that guy's username was wagardhac and something else.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
I dunno what your brother saw but Xamar is the best its been in two decades. When i was there, all I had was 9 square kilometers to roam in. Shababis were only 1/2 from Villa Somalia. They ran nearly 13 out of the 16 districts. The night would be illuminated with artilllery rockets being fired by AMISOM and AS. During the battle of Badr, the AS broke the AMISOM/TFG line and came to nearly 2 km from my house. That night was some scary shid and I packed to flee towards Medina but fortunately reinforcements from Qeybdiid and Indocaade held them off until AMISOM arrived with their tanks. You couldn't even stay out past 2 pm because the fighting would pick up after Casr and there were daily shellings and car bombs. My whole life was stuck traveling on Maka Al Mukarama. The roads were packed with hundreds of freelance TFG mooryaan who would shake you down for money. The hospitals were filled with the dead and wounded.
Today, you can drive to all districts. You can go to Lido and Jazeera with your Cambaro. There are no mooryaans all over the streets to rob you. The Isbaaros have disappeared. You can't get a flight to Xamar without advance booking unlike during the height of the war, when the flights were half filled. You see more nonSomalis.
Wallahi, its amazing how things have changed.

Bal usheeg, walaahi remember getting calls every night from random people telling me "Nayaa we know you are inside the airport and are coming to get you" and yet every night after heavy artillery from those bastards put up with it and lived life. If they went through what I went through walking from Marina to Medina on foot while Shabab looking for me than am sure these idiots in the west can come and enjoy a free XamarAbdiWahab252 wrote:I dunno what your brother saw but Xamar is the best its been in two decades. Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
No one is disputing Xamar has had a terrible history, but it's most basic gains have been turned into a second dubai caml. Insha'allah it becomes an african dubai, but it aint even close.
Osob, if you can guarantee me protection and are willing to show me what is "fun" and "nice" about xamar, I'll be more than happy to take up your offer

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
Osob,
Still, even after all that I don't buy the story that all is safe. There are plenty of risk but this time its more directed than random. I however am enjoying this bubble and can't wait for my familial lands in North Mogadishu to peak in value
But I have no faith in Garguurte, Carabweyne, and Tarsan to do the basics and to enforce the basic rule of law. They have shown that they don't understand the fundamental rule to maintain order among our people: fear.
PO,
Well good luck ! Xamar was hellish and a place where even Angels feared to tread. It ain't always going to be bad but will improve slowly. But the fact that the trend is towards peace is a good sign. As xamar goes, so does the rest of the country.

Re: My brother just came back from Mogadishu
Perfect only Allah can gurantee you safety walaalkiis but the irony is that almost every single one you was born in Xamar and I wasn't and yet I went to it during some of the worst times it had. Yet I lived, worked and tried to give back to the city. my advice to you all is that Do not come back to Somalia if you are not willing to leave back the luxury of your western life. Prior to Xamar I never wore jalbaab Iyo indho shareer and yet I did it. Prior to going to Xamar I never heard gun shots or artillery nonstop for nine months, had Alshabab call me every day and even tell me where I went to during the day and tell am ill be dead today and yet I just prayed to Allah and lived. When my time is up than its up. Xamar is my home and I will gladly go back and work to make it better regardless of all the obstacles. As I said your uncle dhegbadan lives right infront of my house and yet he is enjoying it. Xamar waa goof Keega eebow and I have no other place so marka spare me when I say noolow Xamar Cadaaye
Abdiwahab
Adiga eebow nothing will ever satisfy you. Maanta you are hating on Tarsan and the President. Tomorrow you will be praising them. As for you homes in the North, no one is holding them so go em.

Osob,
Lol, you are woman and so face less risk. But when you are a man you face many more: Aano qabiil, are a more legit target, can't conceal your identity as easily etc. We will die but not for useless risk. I have known 6 people I worked with who got murdered in the last 4 years. After a while, it gets to you and you ask yourself is this worth it ? IF you die, you are blessed but if you get MAIMED then that is punishment !
