Re: Have you met any famous people?
several year ago when i used to moonlight as a music/events promoter i met quite a few international DJ's.
The most famous one would be David Guetta, he was down to earth , a regular guy and committed family man, unlike most celeberties.
his wife is is manager and i worked with her mostly.
When i was posted in nigeria in 2009, i met ex president olusugun obasango
quite the charecter he is an old man and statesman and general and still acts like a school boy, pulling pranks and telling really dirty jokes.
Also met the son of the emir of adamawa one of the nigerian kingdoms, not famous outside of west africa, in a wedding.
Met former footballer JJ okocha in his nightclub that he owns, called JJ's.
and finally i was sitting in the emirates business lounge in lagos airport when i saw the world famous author wole soyinke sitting alone downstairs.
i went down and met him we chatted and i offered to take him upsatirs to the lounge, he resisted by i insisted.
charming man, i was surprised that he walks around unappreciated in his own country and doesnt seem to have made allot of money too.
not to mention 5 mins with shiekh mohamed bin rashid, was dragged to his majlis by my friend, and i was too overwhelmed to do anything so i sat in a corner and minded my own business waiting for my friend to finish talking.
The shiekh was curious and come over with my friend and called me waryaa.
talking about somalia and stuff.
if i wasnt so overwhelmed i would have mentioned somaliland.

Re: Have you met any famous people?
not a high flying success story, my life is pretty mundane really, even more so these days.
most of what i posted was during my 1 year posting to nigeria setting up a subsidiary of our company.
the promoter events thing was in dubai, in the early days before media companies took over.
now its just regular 9-5 job, then home to wife and kid these days, with the occasion shiisha /cards night with the boys.

Sounds nice. I don't mean to pry but when you say our company, do you mean you own said company?gurey25 wrote:not a high flying success story, my life is pretty mundane really, even more so these days.
