My uncle was the first pick to lead the USC. Unfortunately, Mengistu could not tolerate him being in Ethiopia because of his abuses against the Ethiopian Defense Forces in the 1970s, This dude didn't get along with Caydiid and both were rivals in the Army. He advised Caydiid not to defend Xamar from MSB after the Hawiye stabbed Caydiid in the back in favor of Ali Mahdi. He said wait it out and until Hawiye swear their undying loyalty to you and the SNM-SPM-USC agreement on postMSB don't lift a finger. Caydiid didn't listen and rescued the Hawiye who stabbed him in the back twice.
If only, it would have been clever to watch Darod and Isaaq butcher each other and then blame each other for destroying the country but Caydid was a God fearing man, AUN.

I don't view this event with much interest. Somalis took sides, some were pro and some were anti-, it was all in the pursuit of clan interests, nothing else. Soomaalinimo mar horey dhimatay, unfortunately.

I agree with Caydiid being one in a million, but lets go easy on the personalisation, I wasn't even alive when this was going down
Sadly though, Somalis haven't evolved to the point where they understand how criticism works so therefore we can't highlight the good and bad things of Siad Barre and the good and bad things of the USC, we are forced to support one side. Maybe one day we'll be able to do this, until then...

HG+Abgaal back stabbed aided. The only ones who stayed loyal to aidid were small Hutu clans like jijele, udejeen, baadicade and gaaljecel. Everyone else back stabbed aided, only small hutus were loyal to him. Aidid should have trusted small hutu sub clans even murule came from Kenya to help aidid!

There's only so much your subclan can do to help you. In the end they won't muster up a pound to save you. Siad Barre was left to die in Nigeria when his clan couldn't help him back to Villa Somalia. Aideed was shot by his own clan. Abdullahi Yusuf couldn't even visit his home region in his last few years. Sharif will be sliced by Abgaal Shabaab militia if he touches down. Well said, but there's no choice but to play the game. I realise it's mostly Hawiye people on snet who hold no grudges and actually see things from the prism of moving forward. When you have certain people "I'm the mighty *inset qabil here" it's like, well it takes two to tango lol

withing that North is even divided subclans of Abgaal and South subclans of Habargidir which makes even harder to walk you get killed instant even if you are not Abgaal or Habargidr and are other hawiye clan both will kill you they rather see a dead Habargidir/Abgaal then one been scape claiming to be other hawiye, if they dont identfy you you are dead.

The Black hawck down was HG VS US/UN and all other clans who where fighting against HG, who provided Spy's to the US/UN and everyone wanted HG out of the picture by any means, was it right or wrong i dont know ofcourse if HG are killing your kids and family you will do what ever it takes to take them down and that was the case for many Hawiye clans.
