Are you sure you're not mistaking fear of letting people get close for fear of commitments?

I just realized I didn't answer your question; I don't think I have a fear of commitment but I am adverse to forming attachments. I'm trying to grow as a person and push myself outside of my comfort zone and so lately I've been trying to be more open, accessible, and affectionate. It's strange and uncomfortable, especially the hugging thing, I can't get used to that. lol

Agree with everything you've posted, especially about our problems not just disappearing.

For some reason, this makes me think of that part of the film in Batman where he embraces his fear of bats and becomes Batman.
I've watched that film too many times.

No, I'm very close and attached to my friends, to my family, my mentors and even a few of my professors. It's men I don't want to get close to. I find every way I can to scare them away, then tell myself they weren't really interested to begin with. It's destructive, but I'm working on it.

Thought so. Well, good luck with that.
