Ducaale, I’m not sure I follow your line of reasoning here. On the one hand you condemn the Issaqs for fighting for Asiatic status and claiming to be of “Arab†origin. You state †One officer noted how they (Isaqs) were APING the Asians by claiming such status. (Slave mentality i must say)â€Â. While you applaud the Daroods for claiming in a letter to be “descendents from Arabia†who look down on their African brethren as slaves and their inferiors! But when the issaqs claim this you accuse them of “self-hating†and “low self-esteemâ€Â. People are justified in calling you an unabashed qabilist; the article is clear, far from being sophisticated bro. No amount of wizardry will conceal your diseased heart. All of this shenanigans about status was brought about by a desire to improve their lot in society and perhaps some pride in the universal Somali perception of being superior to other Africans. I cannot find any support for your claim that the darood (or other Somalis) were classified or treated differently from the issaq. The article uses the word Somali too loosely to make this claim and is often interchangeable with issaq.
“In East Africa the Somali community is sometimes considered on the same level as the Negroes of East Africa. Since they pay non-native poll tax cannot the British Government assure them that they will get the same privi¬ leges as the non-Europeans residing there…â€Â
“Sir Richard Acland 'question of the status of Somalis has been represented to me very strongly by some of them',â€Â
The treatment of Somalis by the British was the same across the board in east Africa. Your attempts to ascribe ulterior motives to issaqs exclusively exposed your hidden agenda or your lack of comprehension. Take your pick

Before i rest my case, let me confirm my points here.
Gurey and JB, My point is you can still be proud of your identity and background , but should you disclaim who you are.
We were dealing with colonialism. We shouldn't have succumbed to the Indirect and direct rules they imposed on us. If you read about the "Wretched Earth" by Fannon, you will realize that colonialism denuded us of everything.
Fortright resistance was the only alternative to take against the Europeans who classified us into groups. In South Africa, the same thing happened and people were categorized ,esp, black eople , coloreds, Africaners by the segregation system they set for the country. It was finally overcome.
JB, I will say again, That was an account of history and political struggle against the colonies. Daarood never reached the "ridiculous position of leaving their kith and kin" (Being Somali) but Isaqis did.
History shall never repeat again!!!!!!!!
