Offensive? The only person offended throughout these last 5 pages was Reacher, no one really cared about the mentioning of the tribes of these old Somalis, its all exaggeration. Regarding their name, if that isn't there name could you, or perhaps Reacher tell me what is their name? I see nothing offensive with the etymology of " Midgaan, Madhibaan, Tumaal"
The negative connotations are what is offensive.
No doubt had anyone inserted their emotions about the Midgaan and feeling offended by the mere mentioning them, I would not have to clarify this. Ignoring their existence does not eradicate the problem that exists. The truth can be bitter and it can be sweet, if reacher didn't exaggerate the matter no one would say " Zubeir stop your being offensive" .

tbf I thought midgaan meant someone that's greedy until my father embarrassingly told me otherwise after I inadvertently offended people.
Based: Stop being such a midgaan and give me a few bucks

I always find these old photographs of Somalis very interesting because you can find people with these styles of plain white clothing, hair and houses still all over Ethiopia. Kids still get the funny haircuts like that and carry pouches with talismans around their necks. Unfortunately with the fall of the government in Somalia dhaqankii baa si weyn is beddeley. Now in Somalia rural areas everyone is wearing assorted garish colored Arab rags. Even the aqals don't look the same with all the random marro and tin all over them.

Zubeir,
Their clan name is Gabooye and it's more of a confederation than a real clan. Some of the sub clans might have a connection to one and other but most of them don't. Sub clans who were outcasted from the main clans such as Isaaq, Darood, Hawiye etc. through the course of history have been incorporated into the Gabooye umbrella.
They're highly sophisticated people, almost all the famous singers, song writers, play writers are all Gabooye, I befriended some of them in Hargeisa. When they get to know you on a personal level, dad ka nasabsan maan arag.
Alwayslove,
It was an Isaaq soldier that killed two other Isaaq soldiers in my hometown Qorilugud. It was not a clan fight. The killer then fled to his Darood reer Abti in Buhoodle which is 20 minutes away from Qorilugud and now he's being protected by his reer abti.

means nothing. the original carabs were practically east africans as well.
I think what you mean to say is that a proud Somali would not associate himself with the MODERN day arabized people who have usurped the original carabs.
Now we are moving the goal post and Somalis are the Original Arabs? I don't understand the obsession you have with being Arab. I am happy to be a Somali and have no blood relations to anyone else.
The results speak for themselves and I submitted my blood to be tested. It says I am 94.1% EAST AFRICAN and Somali. My parents come from two different somali clans and both are proven to be Somalis through this test. All the claims of having Arab origin are set to rest in my case.
