I would actually take Skywalker's Somalinimo more than Khalid or the others. Sky waa daacad and his questions are legitimate.
On the issue of Barre or other Somali figures, I realized a while back to have your views while respecting that others can disagree and can have their own perspective and experiences.
A country like the US never agrees on anything and yet everyone is allowed to have their views. Look at a guy like Lincoln.
Lincoln is considered by the greatest American president in history by Obama. So much so that the first Black president swore on his personal bible in his inauguration. Similarly Kennedy used to give busts of Lincoln as gifts to friendly countries.
The same time the man went to war against half of America and every year countless civil war enacters from entire regions of the US curse his name. There are more books devoted to trying to debunk his history than any American president by conservatives.
Look at Reagan. Spend a second talking to a Liberal and Reagan was evil incarnate, a man who was as destructive as the Soviets he fought...a man they will argue destroyed America and is still trying to crawl back from the hole he dug. Yet conservatives see Reagan as America in physical form, the man who made America what the destiny holds for it. To them,I am a "Reaganite" is like saying I am an American.
I am not building comparisons here, but just saying even in a democratic society views about past leaders can be as wide-ranging and disagreeing as anything that can be said about Barre.
Barre was a leader of Somalia for almost 22 years. Perspective about his leadership will obviously be very diverse whether you felt adversely affected or beneficially affected or neutral and didn't lose or gain anything.
It's time we just accepted people have different views and allowed for it to co-exist. It's all in the past, no sense relitigating the past.

Re: The blessed Kacaan! Another Siyad would be great
We judge people for the achievements and failures along their lives. At the begining Siad Barre could achieve some successes but he was the main responsable of many war atrocities against his own people, he created a regime which could not deal with a military failure in 1977, that shows me Siad Barre government didnt have strong support among somali clans, the support to Siad Barre among somalís was weak at best. If Siad Barre support among clans was really significative, the war against Ethiopia wouldnt have destroyed the Somali state so easily.
Barre had the chance to change the Somali history forever but at the end of day, he became in the worst enemy of his countrymen, he was a very useful man to Ethiopian ambitions.

Err... no. He got us involved in a costly war against a smarter opponent. A war that contributed to the demise of the Somali state and what did he do to returning army veterans and commanders? He murdered them for fear of a coup/uprising.BlackRain wrote:he almost defeated Ethiopian and Cubans?luis1 wrote:I can not understand people who still love Siad Barre.
Can anyone tell me any Siad Barre achievements?

There is nothing that should be said after this. Its a wrap. Go home now kids.skywalker25 wrote:Nothing wrong with people who have a good memory of the kacaan or even its leader. Many Somalis hold dear certain individuals who in any respectable country would be classed as criminals but because of tribal unity they stay loyal. But the main problem arises when history is twisted and people try to force a narrative thats distorted and factually incorrect on others.
Take for example a typical pro Kacaan
''One thing I notice is every year Somalia stays lawless, the more October 21 becomes a even bigger event. Probably in 1992 it wasn't that big'' This is factually incorrect
To support this he brings as his evidence Universal TV, a channel owned by Barwani's. A group who grew wealthy and who were allowed to prosper because they posed no threat and who after the fall of the regime lost all their gains to the anti Barre movement. Now you dont need to be a rocket scientist to workout why this group would support the Regime in any given year but according to this gentleman above its a sign of change. looool
No country on earth celebrates a dictator. Not Russia for stalin, not germany for Hitler, not Italy for Mussolini, not Iraq for Saddam, none of those South American dictators Pinochet etl. However, Somalia is different. Really?

You know what's funny about this 30+ waste of space. It excites him to see Somali suffer today, those same people who took his family in Xamar. His whole life revolves around wanting to see the chaos continuing and in every social forum he repeats the same mantra of hate with his multiple names. He has no humanity no muslimnimo, no Somalinimo, no education no job and is ok his second baby mother.
How can anyone class a person like that as more than animal...

Lol@cry
Look at these autistic mofokers. Have I just stumbled into the special needs class?
XimaamXaare and HutuKing what is it today; are you guys support your own mentally challenged class mate?
They way they latch on to a word is hilarious. It would be funny if it wasn't by tragic individual. It's people like these that bring the Somali IQ down. Guys do us all a favour get HIV and die. I honestly can't see any point in you living.
Sorry

Most of the criminals that directly benefited from the 21 yrs rule of MSB are today in Garbaharey.
All they are mourning about is 'Kismaayo ba xasuuq baan nalo geystey.'
What about the Xasuuq they committed in Hargeisa,Bari,Goboladha dhexe,Bay iyo Bakool and Jubbaland? When they were in power.
War wuxu wa iska crocodile.

I wholeheartedly I agree with you. What I find hilarious is how emotional he gets when the Habar Yoonis members attack Siilaanyo and his sub-clan, when he starts throwing a hissy fit and has a huge tantrum, sometimes bringing a thread 20 pages long. General Duufle is the biggest munaafiq and very emotional.Khalid Ali wrote:Skywalker mala hormoonka ninka kugu yar wamaxay waxaas oo oohin ah Khalidow Islaanimo Is Khalid the only Muslim in the world haayaay Khalid shilimaantisa wu shaqeysta the same way my family did settling in the Capital of the Former Somali republic is nothing shameful we were the city's elites wa cuud la shaqeystey its not like we were given our wealth by the walanweyns we worked for it dhidid maskax maal iyo karti, we owe no one anything![]()
